I tend to find those with mental illness and especially Schizophrenics seem to have more empathy and understanding.
Im bloody proud to be Schizophrenic. Cos we all sufffer together and have a union of comradery. Sod the normies - us lot are special!!

Generally not my experience and it definitely isn’t me. I have to work hard at empathy. (Being honest.)

My affective empathy is relatively ok. My cognitive empathy is not so good.
I find schizophrenia are generally smarter than average.
I find that this is definitely not true for me at least. I got a lot dumber after psychosis.

I personally do not know any schizophrenics other than myself. I agree with ginalovea2, I find that I am significantly dumber than before psychosis.
I think it effects people more on the tail ends of the bell curve.
