I saw my pdoc today and changed the Xanax which is highly addictive to diazepam which because it’s a benzo I’m guessing just as addictive.
I keep having panic attacks and only take the Xanax when needed when my head is up my arse. So like every 3 days or more. Afraid of getting addicted I told my dr to stop the Xanax and please give me something better to avoid the panic attacks which I get in certain predictable situations which can’t be avoided.
I’d be extremely grateful if you could share your benzo experiences particularly with Xanax and diazepam. Thanks in advance.
Apparently Valium (diazepam) is got a longer half life than Xanax
I’m on Klonopin (Clonazepam)
These are all benzodiazepines. They are very difficult to get off of once you been taking them long term. Withdrawal symptoms are horrid for me when I skip a dose of 2
I will be going down extremely slowly. May take a while
I’ve only taken Xanax. I took it before stressful situations like taking a flight.
Now I have Tranxene as a prn (also a benzo) but I’m trying to find alternative solutions like listening to relaxing music.
Where do your panic attacks revolve around? If i may ask
@Spacemonk they happen when I drive on the highway and even more so through a tunnel to take my dog to a park she likes. Otherwise I wouldn’t drive. I know it says you shouldn’t operate heavy machinery but the waves of panic just get stronger and stronger.
In situations where I feel trapped panic waves overcome me. But I will try the new med and hope for the best. Thanks for your reply.
@TheFountainPen thats the same way I’ve been using Xanax but stopped before a habit could form. I kinda want and end to fly to the uk to see my dying father or go to his funeral but it’s a 13 hr flight and I highly doubt I could manage it. Trapped in a tube for that amount of time scares the hell out of me. But hoping the new benzo helps someway better than Xanax.
@keylow a longer half life could be what I need. I will see in a couple of days the affect they have in a safe situation. I’m still dopey after my depot and a tranquilizer injections. So I’m not going to mix meds and wait until I’m all clear.
I will stop the tablets if they become a crutch. My pharmacist said I’ve had them before so to take them off my prescription I must not have liked them much.
Thanks for your reply it’s much appreciated.
