Benzo advice (plz help)

The doctors on my ward are strange in that they don’t like prescribing Lorazepam. Still managed to get 1mg every for hours instead of 2 pills.

They keep pushing clonazepam, but when I took it in the past it made me so drowsy. I hated it.

What benzos have you used? And what worked and what didn’t.

Also can someone link a benzo strength chart.

I’m gonna search for one now.

You should tell them what it does, and compare it to the others ones. They usually chop and change depending on how patients respond and articulate what their response is !

Benzos are really hard to get rid off.

I used to take Tranxene and had to taper it for 6 months before I could quit.

Ive learned that benzos should only be used for 4 weeks or on rare occasions. 40 percent of the longtime users of benzos find it very very difficult to get of Them. The stories Ive been told about benzo withdrawal has convinced me that I`ll never Will touch a benzo.

I was on benzos. I really needed them for years.

Klonopin and valium were the best for me. Long half life, no side effects, no physical withdrawal, sedating relaxing feeling

Ativan for me has horrible withdrawals and shorter half life. If I missed a dose it was a nightmare so they switched me

Never been on Xanax

I no longer have Benzos after a lot of years on them

For anxiety, I take an antidepressant for a long term solution

Took a long time to get clear of benzos

Pregabalin is not much better IMO

This is not an unusual story. I’ve seen it irl several times. The first time I saw benzo addiction, it was in the early ‘90s and the psychiatrist himself who prescribed me Xanax. I was working a checkout line at Kmart and my psychiatrist came through the line, obviously really, really strung out. He had a prescription bag, which he accidentally left at my register. After he left the store, I looked in the bag and it was Xanax he had prescribed to himself. I saw Xanax addiction again when I was in rehab for alcohol. The girl told me her story. She was in really bad shape. Benzo addiction is sheer hell to recover from, others have told me.
I believe all the psych meds for so many years may have caused my glaucoma. Benzodiazepines can change open angle glaucoma into angle closure glaucoma, a more serious form that, if not treated right away, will cause blindness very quickly.

First Clonazepam, then Lorazepam.

I was on Clonazepam for about 5 years before I tapered off.

They gave me Lorazepam as a PRN after.

My pdoc manages both my Xanax and ambien.

I don’t have withdrawals nor do I experience euphoria at 1mg 4x a day.

Taking it as prescribed manages my anxiety spikes and panic attacks.

No matter what I never pass my daily dose.

During hospitalization I been in clonazepam and Ativan. It helps differently. It’s slow to take effect.

I slowly reduced my benzo intake over 15 years. I have been off a couple of years. I really needed them at one time.
