Would you let your pdoc monitor you from remote?

TW: Paranoia

I have a new eval in about a week or so. The paperwork they emailed me asks if I consent to wear a ‘vital sign’ / GPS device that allows the pdoc to track my location and vital signs and log the information. It’s not a locking device, so I can take it off if I want to, and it doesn’t cost me anything to be monitored.

It is some type of health application.

I wouldn’t mind it. I’d be interested in the results.

I wouldn’t have a problem with it and I’d ask what they were recording and why. Pays to be informed but it’s nothing sinister to me.

I don’t want to be monitored like that by my pdoc. If I could choose when to be monitored in that way by my primary dr, I would do it

I used to be super paranoid about even having my picture taken before I got medicated. From what I understand, they can detect a hypomanic/manic episode. For some reason, I am going to take comfort in it.

I don’t think it’s necessary to be tracked like that. I wouldn’t do it.

As it is, a year after I started with my pdoc, I have to have my urine checked every three months. They say it’s to check for drug interactions and so forth. I find it invasive. However, I tolerate it because I don’t drink or do drugs. I have nothing to hide. Also, I’m able to do telehealth with my pdoc and therapist.

I would not do it either. I am against the encroachment of technology. I think it’s invasive. First, one small thing and then another and another. Slowly, then, over time, the stripping of all privacy - and being controlled by machines and a medical administrative state. No thank you.

I think we’ve reached a sort of answer here. We don’t promote delusions and this thread is attracting those so will shut.
