what compels people to try such a thing. what a demonic ritual of pain endurance. it’s not for me. but i am planning in running a 2mile race this summer, i’ve been training for it on the treadmill. i don’t think i could run more than 3 miles or a 5k to be honest, and have never entertained the idea of running a marathon or even a half marathon. i think it’s just something people do, to check off their bucket list.
I’ve run two marathons, one pre-onset and one post-onset. my pre time was significantly better than the post time. but I was most proud of completing it after I had taken ill.
Wow @gene that is really impressive. I’m jogging 4 km’s a day but going to have a go soon at running 10k in one session. I’d be very happy with that but it’s hard work carrying all these extra pounds.
the impetus of being youthful. @rogueone: I’m glad to hear your getting your daily workouts. I’m carrying about 15% more lbs than I should. Make sure you are eating right! Don’t want all the hard work to be offset by a poor diet. Keep on truckin’!
This might sound kind of wimpy, but I’m too old to run a marathon. I’m 61 years old. My brother told me about this pregnant girl who ran a marathon and then delivered her baby a few hours later. I found it hard to believe, but you never know.
no way would I, even off meds I’m just not interested I’d stick to my peaceful alone time jogs in the park
It used to be one of my better pleasures to go to a park at the stillest time of morning and work out in the place. There is nothing like that runner’s high.
Yea. I miss that feeling.
I can hardly walk!
No way would I be able to run in a marathon!
@Wave: the journey starts with a step. it doesn’t have to lead to running 26.2 miles, but a 5k could be a starting goal.
People say that so much. I’ve tried and tried trust me jogging is my passion in life.
But I never get anywhere whilst on meds with jogging past the first week.
It just doesn’t work for me
Yeah like my tag line says: One step at. time!
No way with my 300lb 43BMI, I will have a heart attack. I used to be best of my class in the beep test before my sz. I was very fast and weighted 127lb BMI 19.
@anon90843118: please explain. meds effect us all differently, how do yours impact your passion?
@Wave: just noticed!
When I jog I can make it for the first week Im talking at a pace slower than walking BTW.
After the first week my legs just dont listen to my brain I want them to jog but they don’t. You’ve given me inspiration to try again though. And I will I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’m way too out of shape right now to run marathon
I’ve run a half-marathon in the past (not in a race)
Before that , I used to run 10km twice a week.
After my half marathon, I was so exhausted that I stopped almost everything.
In fact, I tried to run after my half but my perfs were so bad I stopped all kind of sport.
2 or 3 weeks ago, I’ve started again running !!!
(It’s just a testimony, I think you can start running very late in your life)
Good evening !
Around 4 years ago I ran/walked a 5km. Half marathon. With my daughter. I could never do that now unfortunately.
i ran a full marathon while medicated on ap. I hit the wall at about mile six. I just thought, “I have to keep going.” I thought about my life and what a tragic turn had occurred. But I kept going, counting one mile at a time.
You on aripiprazole?
Well done BTW!
