A year after expiration date is too much. 1 month max.

when a can gets really really old beyond its expiry it tends to turn into botulism

Yeah, there was no bulge in the can like there is with botulism

Why risk food poisoning over a lousy $1.29 can of soup? Toss it.

No. It’s cheaper to buy another can of soup, than pay for a doctor.

Well, we ate it and nothing bad happened. I checked multiple sources to see if it was still edible. If it smells off, has a dent in the can or a bulge in the can, or if the can is rusted, it’s inedible. But a change in taste and texture is ok.

I dropped it in my stew before realizing the texture was different. That’s when I checked the date. But I didn’t want to throw out the whole stew. Luckily, it turned out ok
