I opened up a can of kidney beans with a can opener and it made a loud hissing sound.
I then proceeded to cook up the beans and ate them.
A loud hissing sound from canned goods could be an indicator that its infected with the botulism bacteria.
Stupid me! I should have known better not to eat the beans.
Botulism is potentially fatal.
The can was not dented.

Is it expired? Expiry date should be written on it.
I don’t think its botulism.

I wouldn’t be worried much, smell is the main indicator, it might be just preservatives’ gas

Had some diarrhea and starting to feel real full
Oh no! You’re having diarrhea? That’s not a good sign. I hope you don’t have botulism. That would be awful! Botulism is no joke! Keep us posted on how you’re feeling

About 2 hours ago but I read that it could take up to 10 days before symptoms show up.
But usually symptoms show up between 18 and 36 hours.
Or as little as 6 hours.
Maybe it’s just your nerves then

Do you have symptoms listed here?

It’s probably the gas in the beans that expels when you open it. It meant that the can was correctly sealed. Have fun with the beans.

Hey it’s okay. Don’t feel weird about it. It is funny that smell really effects the appetite, and that people prefer certain smells over others. Beans are the best though. So healthy for you, especially a cheap way to get protein.
