Worsening Paranoia and Delusional thinking after Risperidone increase

It doesn’t make sense or maybe it does?

I was on 1mg of Risperidone for a while and eventually became totally Nuts / Psychotic.

My dose was increased to 2mg at the Psych Hospital and my psychosis/paranoia and Delusions eventually disappeared- I felt fine enough to drive to the Barbers by myself and get a haircut.

I go see my psychiatrist I tell her that I’m feeling good at 2mg of Risperidone and she tells me that she prefers that I go up to 3mg.

Well I’ve been on 3mg of Risperidone and instead of feeling better I am feeling more paranoid and delusional (ideas) than when I was on 2mg.

Does this even make sense?
My psychiatrist increases my AP dose and I am more paranoid and delusional than before, on a lower dose of AP.

What do you guys think?

I may call her up before my appointment with her.

What’s the therapeutic dose? I thought it was 4mg.

Risperidone has a varied and wide range.

Doses range between 1 - 6mg

I personally do better on 2 - 2.5mg

I’m going to call her up soon if I continue to be paranoid like this.

I did better on the high dose of risperidone, I had a doctor take me from an 8mgs a day dose to a 2mgs a day dose and I became paranoid, depressed, anxious and delusional. My point is you never know what’s going to work certainly time to talk to doctor.

It seems to me that I do better on lower doses of Risperidone.

Why’d you come off abilify after 13 years on it? Unlucky 13th year?

No I was really paranoid and anxious on Abilify.

My psychiatrist at the time mistook these side effects as Symptoms, so she kept me on it.

I thought that they were Symptoms also.

Besides, my last psychiatrist loved to prescribe Abilify, that and Seroquel XR

I hope your doctor puts you back on the lower dose.

Maybe youre just getting worse, no connection with the meds. So its a placebo thing

You have also been under huge stress for the last few months add it’s heading to Xmas which will add to the stress. I hope you take that into account before blaming the meds for it all. I have issues with Risperidone too but has helped me a great deal.

Yeah knowing my doctor, she may want to increase the Risperidone.

Like she said, it might be a matter of me getting used to being on doses higher than 2mg.

I’m kind of fearful that if I go back down to 2mg I will end up going “crazy” again.

I think that I will listen to her and just go with the flow.

After all she kept warning me that if I kept playing around with my meds that I would end up in the Hospital.

She was right.
