Apologies if there’s one already on here, I was scrolling and searching and didn’t find any that weren’t at least a year old it seems. What sort of work outs do you guys do to try to stay fit? I am trying to learn how to do a proper workout. I realized even if I do sign up for a gym I will never go to it. So I am trying a new strategy of using workout vids I find on youtube and exercising at home.
Today I did 5 minutes of pre-workout stretches, 10 minutes strength training (full body), 10 minutes cardio and then 5 minutes post workout training. I wanted to start with something small because I am very out of shape and haven’t worked out regularly since the summer time. I was exhausted!! My legs feel like noodles now, lol. The strength training was diff types of planks and push ups as well as squats & lunges, and the cardio was basically a lot of different ways of jumping around lol.
Does this sound like a good way to start? After this week I’d like to start doing 15 mins strength 15 mins cardio, with an eventual goal of doing 30 mins each every day.
Sounds like a great start your on the right track. Some free weights can be helpfull…just some dumbbells to work your arms but you can find a lot of good stuff on you tube these days.
Important thing is do it all regularly so good luck with keeping going1
I see a lot of girls using resistance bands for their strength training. There are various strength ones ranging all the way up to 120 pounds. They should be a decent way to train your legs.
I just walk 1 hour a day these days. But if you really want to loose weight, I had made progress pre-illness by going swimming, then running a mile every time I went to the gym. Another good way to loose weight is just to have an active day. Don’t sit there, keep busy all day and eat less than the calories burned from having an active day.
I do a lot of cardio for my workout plus a little strength training. I found the planks to be the best strength workout ever They are super hard, but strengthen your core and your arms at the same time. I think you are making a great start on working out.
My workout is currently like this:
1 hour on elliptical for cardio (I would prefer to run, but I cannot because of my stupid ankle),
10 min stretching,
20 min strength training (mostly planks and squats).
