Wont work for less than $10/hr, won't work for more than $10

I could definitely make more money somewhere but after thinking it over. I decided i’ll go back to work for $10/hr. hopefully 20 hours a week, preferably 5, 4 hour shifts, with 2 days off.

that would give me an extra $800-850 dollars a month, before taxes, and hopefully i’ll be able to keep my Medicaid and disability for awhile. eventually I would like to go back to work full time and will demand higher pay when I do.

I think this is best, I will still have free time each day, to workout and do chores around the house. all the extra money will go towards home improvements. :+1:

What’s minimum wage? I think it’s $11.50 here.

$7.25 in Indiana. I was thinking it was higher than that. I’ve never worked for less than $12/hr personally, but I don’t want to lose my ssdi for a couple years.

what type of work are you looking for?

im not sure, I don’t want to commute and there is not much in town. I will probably explore dishwasher positions, or something at the casino, lots of different jobs available at the casino, it’s the largest employer in town. also the pizza place is hiring. I don’t want to deliver pizzas but could try working in the kitchen.

How much can someone make who gets disability, if they work a job too or is this not possible?

Yes, you can work and make a small amount of money while on SSDI. I believe it’s somewhere around $1100.

Yea it’s best to start off with part time.

I’m doing the same.

Good luck @Lifer

Even part time is difficult I find but it’s a worthy cause and feels satisfying to have some more things going on… That give u money :))

I live in southeastern Indiana. right on the ohio river. close to ohio and Kentucky. back in my hometown I was right on the stateline of Indiana, ohio and Kentucky. referred to as the tri-state. 20 miles from Cincinnati, ohio, but now I have moved further down river so 40 miles from Cincinnati now.

20 hours a week? that’s significant working capacity & stamina @Lifer. well done. I’m kinda unstable in my moods and especially in stamina due to disturbed sleep so I think you’re doing awesome. I can only manage casual shifts and even then, a four hour shift totally flaws me. I got a 9am shift tomorrow and I’m worried I’ll be too sleep deprived to do it. I’ll try with pdoc meds to sleep well tonight.

I’m on disability my lawyer advised me not to work part time. If I go $1 over I’ll lose my disability and it could take years to get it back.

If you go back to work full time and you get laid off or fired you lose your health insurance. have you thought about how will you get your meds?

I spent 8 years in the workforce trying to make it. I was making $16 an hour. I was bringing home in a week what I now get in a month on disability.

The problem was getting my meds in between jobs. My mom was paying cash for them for months on end. One time I was out of work 9 months.
