Woke up with no panic attack, 1st time since FEP

I woke up today with no panic attack. Typically when I’ve fallen asleep lately I wake up to immense panic and have to get out of bed right away to get oriented. One time I almost had a second episode but resisted it with all my being.

Today I woke up smoothly. I took only a quarter of .5 Clonazepam. I take 1/8 after work and 1/8 when I get ready for bed. Seems to be best thing so far. I’ve been a crazy insomniac since first episode about 50 days ago.

My current doc hates benzos but I’ve seen (2) people on here that do primarily a benzo treatment plan. I may look for a doctor comfortable with that. I understand risk of abuse, I’ve overcome addiction before (alcohol, cigarettes, marijuana) so I’d like to think I can moderate which sounds paradoxical, huh?

If I remember correctly you’re newly psychotic. That sounds so strange to say. I don’t mean to offend. We all are from time to time here.

My first treatment was xanax 3 times a day. It does help with panic but it made me depressed so watch for that. I find the best stuff is a combo that stops the positive symptoms and controls the anxiety. I believe everyone should be allowed to control their treatment (unless they are a danger to themselves) but you also need to trust the doctor. They know the medicines so try to give up a little control to them but do what makes you feel better.

How are your positive symptoms?

I was in denial for about a year and I thought there was a lady in my wall talking to me so I could stop the invisible people from getting into our deminsion. Denial is strong.

About 80% of people with schizophrenia struggle with insomnia, especially when they are having symptoms. Just FYI.

I struggle with the opposite, my meds sedate me and make me sleep too much 15+hours. I try to drink strong coffee many times a day but sometimes I fall asleep and don’t have energy to make coffee.

I started the Zyprexa and slept like a rock last night. Maybe something could help you sleep but not knock you out? You take seroquel I assume? That one seems to really put people to sleep.
