Wisdom teeth removal

Is it possible to keep my wisdom teeth like our ancestors used to do?

Yeah, if you have room in your mouth for them.

My dentists let me keep mine for a long time, but they ended up getting a lot of decay on them because my toothbrush wasn’t reaching them well so they ultimately got pulled.

What happens if you dont remove them?

I am 38 years old and I still have my wisdom teeth.

If you don’t have enough room in your mouth it can cause your other teeth to shift position and become too crowded.

In my case, I had enough room, I just didn’t take care of them enough. If I had, I’d probably still have them.

The military wanted all four of mine taken out and they did the first two and that was a ■■■■■ as far as recovery goes. I never went back to get the other two done. That was in 1995.

A few years ago the VA in Baton Rouge said the other two needed to come out. I went to New Orleans to have the procedure done and the dentist there said they didn’t need to come out so I left without having them done. My dentist in Baton Rouge still said they needed to come out but I still have the two.

Unless it’s absolutely necessary I ain’t having them taken out. Recovery was bad enough at 25. I can’t imagine what it would be like now that I am in my fifties.

Ya. It’s not pleasant. If you need to have them removed I recommend all 4 at once. The lady who told me to do them one side at a time had obviously never been through that.

I’m 39 and have all my wisdom teeth. I think it’s fine. My teeth aren’t real crowded or anything. My dentist says some people have trouble keeping them clean, but I guess I do a pretty good job of it.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled shortly after I got out of the army. The dentist told me that the military will pay for one major dental surgery after you leave the service. At the time I was happy I would get the pain pills. It was strange. They had no effect on my mood or my consciousness, but they did take care of the pain. In the future I hope pain pills will continue to handle the pain if I need them. It is probably a blessing that they don’t affect my state of mind, because I won’t be tempted to abuse them, if I need them.
