At one point in a mental facility I thought about getting sleeve tattoos on both arms meaning that others should stay away. I was really in a bad mind set. I even drew up a photo of a spider to get tattooed on my arms.
The singer Aaron Carter just got a face tattoo and was just recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. The tattoo artist determined he was in a good mindset and really wanted the tattoo.
I bet in a couple years he will get it lasered off and it will extremely hurt. I’m actually not sure if they can laser off face tattoos or not.
I can see getting tattoos on arms legs feet hands back and even belly or back of the neck but the face is a little two far I have 4 tattoos myself and want one more but even I won’t do a face tattoo
I am against tattoos. I especially think face and hand/finger tattoos are kind of gross because they look dirty, and there’s this TV commercial of a dad with tattooed fingers dunking an oreo and it makes me a little sick to think about. Maybe I’m just squeamish.
Anyway I think it’s a big turnoff on girls. Usually if they have one it’s on the ankle which is okay I guess, but nothing beats clean clear old fashioned skin. I wanted to do something rebellious but reversible as a young adult but was against tattoos so I got a piercing. I didn’t keep it long though lol.
The only face tattoo I think is appropriate is Mike Tyson’s. He has mentioned it was inspired by the Maori traditions. I’ve also read that the tattoo artist had the design copyrighted. At first it was a bit of a shock to see Mike Tyson with a face tattoo. Not necessarily surprising, but just scary looking. He already had an intimidating presence, with the tattoo more so. I don’t think he is an perfect person, no one is, however I do think he has grown as a person and despite his past he seems to try to be a good person now despite his difficult upbringing. In fact, I am a bigger fan now than I was when he was a fighter. I wish him nothing but the best and continued success.
Why would someone get a face tattoo? I dunno but Mike Tyson wears it well enough.
This thread reeks of judgment. I guess inclusion is only okay if you like what’s being included.
People get face tattoos for many reasons, including cultural beliefs or they just wanted them. I’d never do it, but just because I wouldn’t do something or dont understand something doesnt mean I should pass judgment on those who do.
I dont get people stretching out their ear lobes to the point of no return, but if that’s what you’re into then go for it.
Oh, I have a tattoo. I thought the general consensus is that a face tattoo is not something the average joe might get done and that most people don’t really like face tattoos. I mean I wouldn’t get one of those. I’ve seen a few people with a teardrop(s). It used to be a symbol that they murdered someone but then people who lost loved ones started getting them too. I’ve seen a guy with multiple teardrops and he definitely looked and acted like a murderer.
Being a New Zealander myself I meant no disrespect to the Maori people of NZ. The Moko is a beautiful form of art with great cultural significance. It is worn well and worn with great pride.
What came to my mind when seeing the title of this thread was a young man who I met at a homeless shelter. He had the most hideous facial tattoo that looked like it had been done by a complete amateur and probably was. He was unable to look people in the eye and appeared to hang his head in shame.
It did him no favours when applying for jobs.
I was too afraid to ask him whatever possessed him to allow someone to do that to himself, but saw it as a form of self harm and someone that must have been suffering terribly on the inside.
Yeah, some of the most famous heavyweight boxing champions turn out to be really nice guys. Joe Frasier and George Foreman are good examples of that. If you’re a boxing fan you can see videos on YouTube of interviews with these two in particular. They’re both charming funny guys. In Foremen’s first phase of his career he was a sullen, mean, brute. He was considered more dangerous than Sonny Liston. But losing to Ali in 1974 and then becoming a preacher taught him humility and in the second phase of his career he was a funny, likable guy who could laugh at himself. And Frasier was a nice guy too. And Tyson, I believe, might have taken a lesson from those two before him and you’re right, he comes across now as a nice guy, a family man, with a good sense of humor.
I wasnt directing it towards you. I just didnt like being described as kind of gross or self loathing. My hand tattoos didnt come from bad judgment, they came from me wanting to express a part of my life that is very important to me. They didnt come from self hate, in fact I see them as an act of self love. That may sound odd to people, but that’s how I feel about them.
I dont like that we say hurtful things about people expressing themselves in a way that hurts no one else just because it goes against society’s norms. It just seems hypocritical to say be welcoming of all and then make blanket statements or judgments towards people who do something that we may not understand.
