This is amazing. So this drug isnt just adjunct therapy but its own new class of antipsychotics?

Well, yes. If it works out, it means that there is a whole new class of drugs that could replace the existing class.

According to what my psychiatrist told me, a drug takes between 2 and 5 years to reach another country. The time depends on the market demand, geographic location, etc.

Exactly! It is used as monotherapy, it is not complemented. And it has a different mechanism of action than current antipsychotics.

“We’re really excited about ulotaront’s novel mechanism,” Psychogenics CEO Emer Leahy said [in an earlier interview]“It probably could be the first new mechanism of action for schizophrenia in about 65 years.”
