I think because personality disorders are deemed untreatable. Psychosis/schizophrenia is treatable.

IM CONFUSED
Google tells me that D.I.D.(dissociative identity disorder) was once known as Multiple Personality Disorder but the WEB also telle me that there are 10 personality disorders but it does not list D.I.D.
Yea when I am on meds my personality is blunted. I guess you’re right actually. It makes me ‘lazy’

Well there are several personality disorders associated with schizophrenia. I guess they just don’t diagnosis them as much.
Probably because psychosis isn’t a personality?

My body has strange behavior due to my schizophrenia. It is not treatable and not under control.
DID isn’t a personality disorder
The VA doesn’t treat personality disorders as a disability so I am glad it isn’t.

It seems to me that psychosis is what differentiates schizophrenia from personality disorders.
I believe that DID is a developmental disorder, not a personality disorder. DID is always a result of trauma, so the trauma always precedes the disorder.
You can have DID and schizophrenia (comorbidity). Also, people with DID hallucinate (hear voices), but there has to be trauma with DID.
Nice question. Personality disorders are deeper in the brain and are more difficult to treat but they don’t cause disability like schizophrenia. Sometimes they are just a way of living. Schizophrenia can suppress/handicap your personality but it doesn’t change your personality.
I studied 4 classes about psychology in university.
Because sz/sza are thought disorders not personality disorders.
