I just read on mayo clinic that sz is a more severe form of schizotypal personality disorder. I guess its true that sz is the worst mental illness.

2005 dx was changed from sz-a mixed type to personality disorder nos. C2008 it was changed to paranoid pd. 2005-2006 taken off meds 2006- 2009 oral antipsychotics 2009 -2017 anti psychotic depot. 2018 changed to sz/sz-a there’s conflicting info as to which one. Continued to be on the depot but have gone from fortnightly to monthly to three monthly depot. Apart from ‘therapy’ by an untrained (in therapy) worker at the day centre I went to, that lasted less than 2 months and was crap, there was no other therapy during those 13 years.

I think it is because personality disorders are known for not responding to medication, but respond well to therapy. In contrast, sz is known to not respond to anything except medication. It is just a code for insurance to approve one treatment over another.
People with personality disorders can have more severe symptoms than people with sz. It depends on the person.

It depends on each person and their situation. Schizophrenia isn’t always the worst. Many with severe depression have trouble getting out of bed, brushing their hair, putting on clothes, or doing just about anything. It can be debilitating. Anxiety can be debilitating too. I knew someone who usually got over ten panic attacks in one day. I thought one or two was bad. Bipolar is a very cruel one to have too. A real roller coaster. All of these illnesses are life-wrecking.
Luckily, my Abilify works okay, and I can get things done. My depression is low level. I can still get out of bed, I can do the laundry, wash the dishes, clean my apartment. I can do many hobbies at a high level. The voices can be troublesome, but I like to think I’m stronger than them, and that they’ll never win. Severe depression is harder to fight, imo. If meds didn’t exist though, I’d be in major trouble.
