I’ve been thinking… In all those handy workout videos on youtube, the person performing the exercises are always fit and in shape.
They make it look effortless, sometimes they don’t even break a sweat.
I would be way more motivated if there was an overweight person who huffed and puffed and was honest about how rough the exercises were, instead of trying to keep up with someone who is 1000x more fit than me.
My favorite yoga instructor was this 50-ish plump woman who had been in an accident and had had much of her spine fused to stabilize it. She was the most inspiring instructor I’ve ever had, and also the most able to help with new people having difficulty. I totally agree with you.
Have you also noted that all weight loss program ads have people in them who were probably never more than a few pounds overweight to begin with? I certainly can say that after losing 100lbs my body doesn’t look so tight with all the loose skin hanging everywhere!
when I read this post, I looked down at my stomach. And I thought to myself that it might also be time for me to go to the gym. Maybe I’ll make a video for you. haha. It is not so bad I am not that fat
I saw this exercise program on an educational tv channel lead by a woman who wasn’t fat, but she wasn’t a superb specimen of fitness either. She lead moderate exercise for people who were past their physical prime. So many people want to work out like they did when they were twenty-five. I tried that with weights once, and I got so sore I felt physically sick when I moved.
