Why does everyone

Why does everyone always ask me where I’m from? Do I look like a monster? I’m worried they’re seeing something I’m not. I’m just considered Caucasian. I’m not “white” but I am Caucasian.

Oh, ok. I thought I was some monstrous, hideous creature. Exotic doesn’t sound so bad. Is it my eyes?

You look caucausian, but it’s hard to pinpoint what kind of caucasian.
Could be siberian, could be baltic, could be italan.

I think it’s because most of us Mexicans are both Native and European. I’m Swiss, Italian, German, Greek, and Apache.

My sister keep getting asked where she’s from.
We’re Danish, with German heritage and some Basque in one of the earler generations, but she’s tan and has dark hair and unusual features.

When she was a baby everyone thoght she was adopted from another country. (Which our other sister successfully made her believe several times)

Oh my goodness…lol I have been confused with being north Indian (India), Uzbekistani, Afghani, Polish, Russian, Sami (North Finland). It depeds on what angle I take my pictures. Here is a picture of me and my sister in law. She’s mixed Native (Cherokee) like me (Apache).

Here I used very tan make-up to give me a more tan look, but without makeup I’m more pale than my sister in law.

I think I look pretty scandinavian.
But when I speak English, people love trying to guess my accent.
I’ve heard Dutch, Finnish, German, some guy even though I was Indian

I think some people aren’t used to seeing different types of Caucasians in America. My husband is more black and Spanish than I am , but he’s considered white and I’m not…lol his dad looks more tan than my parents too. My husband’s grandfather was once arrested by the FBI because he resembled a black man that was on their radar. If I go out with my other sister in law people miss ake us for sisters. It just depends what I’m wearing, clothes, make-up wise and hair style.

Who knows, maybe it’s the Native American in us that makes us stand out.

@Cici2, I’m half Mexican and part French, Scots/Irish. My dad was full blooded Mexican. My mom was half French and half Scottish. I only rarely have people wondering what ancestry I have. Most people tell me that I “look white”. I know I don’t though because I look just like my Mexican grandmother who was native Mexican. My sister, however, who is very dark haired, eyed, with darker skin, gets mistaken for being native American, Iraqui, Middle eastern, anything but white, which always makes her very angry.

Yeah, it can get tiring always explaining my looks. My little brother’s friends that meet me for the first time say, “why are you white?” :astonished: Because my brother is brown, and they ask my mom if I have a different dad. :woman_facepalming:t2: The weird thing is, is my dad is the white one, well my mom too, but she’s got Native in her. He is extremely pale, but just has a tan from working outside. His boss calls him a redneck, because he’s not black or brown, he’s pink, red tan. I’m lighter than my dad’s boss’s family, that are also Cherokee mixed. It’s strange how people view “race” here in America. I went to Sweden once and I thought I’d stick out like a sore thumb, but everyone said they thought I was Icelandic. So that was a shocker. :exploding_head:

People are probably just a little curious.

I’m a quarter Mexican. I’m unsure what people think I am.

My brother tells me I look very Eastern-European.

I’m unsure what my Father’s ethnic background is.
