Whats the sciece behind it, and why its so hard to lose weight when on it too.
For me one reason is cos I can’t do exercise anymore. Just walking.
Exercise helps to regulate my appetite
I also think it’s a comfort eating thing
i exercise everyday walks, strength training, the pounds are going down so slow. its not motivating at all. I want to know why it slows my metabolism down, im on haldol 10 mg. is there any medication to combat the slow metabolism.
I think antipsychotics can affect the bacteria in our gut in a way that makes us gain weight more easily. This is at least the case in second generation antipsychotics so not sure about haldol, but I reckon it is the case for haldol too, just my gut instinct.
For this reason I purposely eat stricter. Since it’s harder to lose weight.
Idk if there is a med for it. I personally wouldn’t go on a weight loss med.
o i see it changes things in gut interesting. Im on fat burner. dont know if its helping to increase my metabolism. wont hurt though.thanks for the article.
Also my psychiatrist says all APs play with your insulin to make you more hungry.
Some meds like lithium increase your body weight by incresing water retention and by reducing metabolism via thyroid hormones.
Also negative symptoms of SZ make you gain weight.
i see, i never know ap would have such have weight issue, i hate it. They should reformalize a medication that would have no weight issues, having weight issues causes diabetes, heart problems and other health issues that i have to deal with now. It sucks
I am taking meds for hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. I am 30 y.o and doing fine.
I was on Olanzepine and was 195 pounds. I am down to 170 pounds now through dieting. I used a meal prep service and was only eating 1400 calories a day. A lot of people underestimate how much they are eating. The best way is to measure and weigh everything you eat and drink.
imperius do you exercise or just diet. and how long did take you to lose that weight, was it hard.
I just diet. It took me like 4 months maybe to go from 195 to 170. It was very hard eating 1400 calories a day but I got used to it. Nowadays I am eating a bit more as I stabilized and I also take probiotics which help with gut bacteria. If you are at a big caloric deficit like me, it is very hard to exercise because you have no energy. The best way technically is to eat a bit more like maybe 1700 and also do 30 minutes of cardio with weight training. For a 195 pound man, 1400 calories is extremely little. An average man my size should eat at least 2300.
good work. im also on caloric defecit, i take preworkout to get through my workout. I just eat alot of fiber like oatmeal wheat, brown rice, and vegetables to keep me full. its hard but im keeping sane.
I think you can for sure eat vegetables to get yourself full but stay away from rice. Potatoes are actually very healthy if you don’t add anything to them and bake them. It is also far better to eat more protein and vegetables and just a hand size of carbs per meal for 3 meals a day.
Thanks for tip, I eat brown rice for fiber, i need fiber in mydiet. Brown should be okay. I been losing weight like 1lb a week. I just want to be full. what i learn from everyone its going to be a long hard road losing weight but its not going to impossible just keep trying and keep on the diet and exercise im i was 272 now im 265 its working too two months buts its a slow process. I wish i was not on aps but i need them or ill go psychotic. Just dont give up keep consistent just give up hope. Trying to reach up goal weight 200lbs by the end of the year. Ill be happy. I’ll take any advice that would speed up the process like what supplements to take, or excercise routine you guys do. Its not fun process, its sucks but whos going to do for you noone so just do it like nike. it sucks lol
Drink pure green tea, it helps in losing weight.
i drink tea capsules, i think that work too.
