With Facebook likes, Instagram, etc… Etc? Why a like make me feel better about myself for a few seconds. This is so confusing, I don’t even use Facebook so much but when I get a like I get excited. Why? Hmm
Pavlov’s dog. Classical conditioning.
I am not familiar with the subject/investigation/ or whatever Pavlov’s dog is. What it is?
It’s the reaction to stimulus. Pavlov had dogs react to stimulus. A ringing bell that stimulated the dogs. Each time the dog was responsive to the stimulus, they salivated, then they were rewarded with food. He then stopped feeding the dogs, but the dogs still salivated from hearing the bell.
You’ll only find more and more layers of obsession.
I don’t use any of those things… but I have my obsessions… my life might be better if I did use those things to balance my own fixations.
I have a deeply pathological need to have everyone like me, and little notifications are just about the best/worst thing in the world for that
Lots of people like a little recognition, a little approval or acceptance. It feels good. And that’s what a like is. The need is more pronounced in some people than others, but basically, a like is a positive thing.
I don’t care about it, I don’t have facebook twitter or instagram.
This forum is my facebook!
I think there’s a difference between liking getting likes and having negative emotions when you don’t get them.
Everyone likes to be acknowledged, but if it’s causing you to have negative emotions when you don’t get them or don’t get enough of them, that’s when it becomes a problem.
