I’m working 15-20 hours a week and am worried that they will take away my Ssdi and Medicare. My mom’s friend’s son has autism and after working 2 shifts a week his benefits were taken away. I’m only getting paid 14.75 an hour.
Don’t worry, I work 8-12 hours a week making 25 bucks an hour and my SSDI (determined with my work credits over a decade ago) has been fine. I still receive it and they even did a review recently and still decided it was fine. There’s a limit to how much you can make per month without endangering your SSDI, I think it’s about 1000 dollars / month, which I am almost always under.
The substantial gainful amount (sga) in 2024 is $1550/month. As long as you stay under the threshold, you are eligible for benefits. Even if you go over, SSA gives you a 9 month trial work period without disrupting SSDI.
I work part time but don’t get SSDI. I work on commission and consistently went over the SGA and SSA termed my disability payments. I feel so dumb- I could’ve worked less. I have an appeal hearing in five months.
I work 16-18 hrs a week at $17.50 and get SSDI
Finally got it, eh?
I’ve had it for a few years now. What I’m still fighting is it was only partially approved, they set my disabled date years later than I became disabled, and then they rejected me all together, but they never took away my payments since I am trying to contest it
As long as you make less than the set maximum amout you should be fine.
Yea, I’m not sure if that set amount is pre- or post-tax, so it’s probably best to fly under $1550 like peeps have said.
