I do blood checked every 6 months and show the results in a clinic
I go to a primary care doctor for a physical once a year. I’m also there throughout the year for all my various other ailments.
My regular doctor just moved away, so I’m starting with a new person on Monday.
It’s nice having worked there before so I have an idea of which doctors might suit me.
I see my general practitioner about once every 2 months. He monitors my weight and does labs yearly. He’s a great gp, i really like seeing him. I couldn’t have lost all the weight i lost without him.
I’m supposed to do a yearly checkup with my primary care doctor. I’ve skipped them in the past when I didn’t have any health issues going on. As I get older, I think I will do them regularly.
I have to see my GP at least once a year for refills on my non-psych meds. My new GP wants to see me every six months. He’s good. My former PCP is a nurse practitioner, and she was pretty useless. I see a physician now, and he has helped me more than my NP ever did.

I get something called a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit. It’s through my insurance company and two years ago I got a $200 grocery gift card for completing it. Last year I got $175 and this year I’ll get a $100 grocery gift card for completing it. It’s basically a general check up, my PCP will check my blood pressure, my weight, my ears, my eyes, my feet. We’'ll discuss my diabetes and general health. When I was growing up we just called them physicals except nowadays they don’t grab your balls and tell you to cough, lol.
Moving to Health and Recovery.
I have an annual complete physical exam done by my primary physician every year
Yes. Yes and yes.
Mental health. Even though I don’t need it because I’m doing gangbusters on lo carb and lowest clinical doses of meds I see my shrink every 6 weeks. You never get in when you need it in crisis so regular is good and 6 weeks is good for me. If I have to cancel 3 months isn’t so bad.
Medical. I’m soon to be 55 so on cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds and take meds for gout. I just got my regular 6 monthly back and it’s great. It’s always a work in progress and not so bad when younger but as you age get in early and at least once a year get your bloodwork done…it really can make a difference with things.
Skin. My mother passed with melanoma on her foot. Skin cancer is a big concern in our family and hereditary is an issue so do that at least once a year and already had ssc’s cut out of me.
So. Your never too young to get it done so yes. As a 54 year old it’s saved me a lot when it comes to some of my issues and it’s worthwhile with every condition you have!
The GP does mine every year
They just added an ecg
@rogueone @Joker ive got mine today, thought it was going to be yesterday but its today now i managed to get appointment. theyve been irregular my check ups in recent years, sometimes over a year without seeing anyone other than for diabetes review. And it would be mental health doing the blood test and ecg. Today im going to Gp, first time in 7 years for this so i hope shes thorough, im excited, i need some reassurance that im not sick physically. I just need to know the meds arent damaging me too. Fingers crossed ![]()
