What did you think of it? I’m trying it tonight for the first time to see if it prevents that terrible living bomb experience.
Also I figure any med that ends in “lol” has to be good, right?
What do you mean the “living time bomb” experience?
I’ve never heard of it. I just looked it up - seems like for people with heart problems.
I have heard it being used to treat the physical effects of anxiety. Tried it but felt so tired. Think @mortimermouse used to take it.
I take a different Beta Blocker - it slows my natural fast heart rate down a bit - I guess it helps with my Anxiety.
Propanolol is used for Akathisia sometimes.
It’s hard for me to describe it without sounding melodramatic, but basically 1-2 hours after I take the Latuda, I feel like my whole body needs to literally explode. It’s a horrible feeling of tension and nothing makes it go away, but I also feel too exhausted to hardly move. I’ll get up to pace around to try to relieve it, but then I’m back on the floor in 40 seconds just feeling miserable as all ■■■■. I thought it might be akathisia but I have no idea.
My pdoc wanted me to keep trying the Latuda but she gave Propranolol to stop this thing that happens.
It sounds like it might be an anxiety effect. Let us know how it works for you.
I would be okay with this. I am so wound up and agitated most of the time and my sleep is crap.
I took it for several years for migraines; worked great.
I was on it in the 90s for akathisia. Worked great at significantly reducing akathisia. Didn’t really notice any effects on anxiety…I was taking 60 mg twice a day. I now take atenolol, a similar beta-blocker to reduce tachycardia (fast heartbeat).
@Minnii takes it for tremor, I believe, and says it works well.
I took atenolol for a heart condition and have stayed on it for the anti-anxiety effects. I love it. It does make me tired, though.
I tried it to treat migraines. It didn’t work for me because I have naturally low blood pressure, so on that med I was barely 90/60. I was dizzy the whole time. For people with normal/high blood pressure, bits probably fine.
She prescribed 30mg per day to be split up as 10mg 3x per day. Seems low compared to a lot of what I read, and the always-suspicious-of-everyone streak in me wondered if she is testing for a placebo effect. Which is fine with me as long as it works.
I take it for akathisia and also general anxiety and most notably, hypertension (high blood pressure). I take 120mg propranolol extended release every time I wake up.
It works pretty well. I can workout without worrying about my blood pressure, and it prevents me from panicking or having intolerable leg movements (akathisia). It does seem to make my ahem erections less uh fierce than before, but they’re still solid.
I would say go ahead and see if you still have the presenting problem which made you take it to the same extent as before you took it. I found that it helps me on a lot of fronts.
It helps with anxiety and akathisia. Cogentin is better at treating akathisia but has more side effects like dry mouth and blurry vision.
Well took it an hour ago with the Latuda. So far I feel absolutely nothing, which is nice.
I took two months of it for tremors and they went away. Good med
I am on it, for migraines and it works great.
Six hours later and it worked. I passed the hell out lol, going back to bed again. No horrible feeling in my body. And they are tiny, cheap pills, too. Woot.
I take tiny 20mg dose for fast heartbeat. It works great.
It also works for tremors.
