Who has gastric reflux/vomiting/gagging problems?

I take generic Nexium for it. I still throw up in my mouth and choke it down most mornings. I used to puke half of what went down up involuntarily- I even threw up outside the psych building at school last year before I got on GERD medication.

The only time I had it was when changing meds or doses.

I have this problem now, i take omperazole for it.

I don’t have such problem, you better check out with drs to make sure…

Certain alcoholic beverages trigger this for me. Makes it very tough to drink any more. Bloody mary’s and grapefruit ales/shandies are about all I can handle.

I think I’m done drinking though, it’s a waste of money. I don’t really need that social lubrication any more.

I know from experience that coffee aggravates GERD. You might ask your doctor if you should have a UGI (Upper gastrointestinal) endoscopy.

Have had it off and on for decades. Got a real bad case from taking very low pH Depakote valproix for bipolar in the '90s. (Depakote was and is cheap, but cheap is not always… cheap. Sigh.)

I have to stay away from chocolate, carbonated beverages, fried food, ice cream, beef and caffeine pretty much period to handle it. And if I catch it again, get on Zantac (ranitidine) 75 for a while. I also use Gaviscon (aluminum hydroxide + magnesium carbonate) to deal with the “attacks” of the type you seem to be describing.

Had one about a decade and a half ago. They found a hiatal hernia. Feh. But I decided against “the wrap” as it’s very risky all by itself, not always successful, and one is under full sedation for a several hours. I’ll take the meds and do the diet, TYVM.

Clozapine gave me relax at night

If I eat right before bed, I occasionally throwup a little while sleeping and sometimes it goes up my nose and burns and smells horrid.

I realized throwing up while sleeping is probably a very dangerous problem, so I don’t eat before bed anymore.

Otherwise, it’s just anxiety that makes me vomit/nauseated. Also Abilify nausea/vomiting, but that’s a new thing for me that seems to be passing.

Yes, indeed. GERD is highly correlated to smoking. See Mechanisms of acid reflux associated with cigarette smoking. - PMC. Here’s some good information what to do about GERD: Plan Heartburn-Friendly Meals to Prevent Symptoms: 11 Tips.
