Reflux (kind of gross, vomit TW)

Does anyone else have this problem? I like drink my morning coffee, then it comes back up partway and that’s super gross. Or I have a snack, then do yoga and right in the middle of downward dog my food starts to make a reappearance. I never know what to do so I just swallow it back down. I’ve been to dozens of doctors for it over the years, and they concluded it’s ??? and left it at that. It got really bad about seven years ago, and I would just throw up my entire meals. Then it stopped for a while, when I was on amitriptyline, but that made my hallucinations worse so I stopped it in 2016 but I was still fine for a while. Now it’s starting to come back again.

Does anyone else have a problem with this, and if so what has worked for you? I can’t imagine this is super healthy for my throat.

I used to get a lot of reflux and “food reappearances” until I started ezomeprazole.
The doctors haven’t really figured out why, just that I might have something wrong with my stomach.

I’m getting pantoprazol since two years everyday, and since one or two months twice a day. I had that same problem, just more worse. It was hurting really bad and all the acid came up. I was really a mess for several months.

Have you had an endoscopy. Maybe you have a weak oesophageal sphincter. I think maybe some meds can effect that.

I am only saying because when I was on clozapinene I would wake at nights with stomach contents going up my throat. Resolved completely after changing meds

Interesting, since ive been on clozapine ive had this problem !!

I’ve had every test possible. No known problems. It just happens.

Yeah sounds like you just have to live with it. Is there any relationship with food? Is it worse after a meal?

I drink my coffee with 8.9-9 pH alkaline water and don’t ever get reflux from it. It’s one of the proven benefits of alkaline water.

Alkaline machines are pretty pricey though, they run you about $300 USD for a decent one.

It’s worse after drinking or eating, but it doesn’t seem to matter what I consume. I did have some success when I went pescatarian before though, so I guess I’ll try that again. Thanks, I forgot about that!.

Hey @anon94176359 I know you’re having a really rough day, but you really helped me just now. I hope that helps you see that you’re still an awesome and cool friend who does good in the world, even on days when you have a breakdown.

Too much lactic acid in your stomach. Are you eating enough and the right things before hand?

Yeah, thinking back, it must be my diet. I just started eating meat again a year ago, and the problem started again about six months later. Thanks for your help, everyone. I just need to go back to my healthy meals.

I also take esomeprazole (nexium). It works really well.

It’s a burning sensation in your esofag like you’re about to throw up? Or it’s a throw up in your mouth follow by swallowing it?

Also do you drink coffee on a empty stomach?
Are you stressed at you’re job or socially or familiary?

Do you eat a lot of fruits and vegetable?

So many questions, I know.

I had acid reflux disease. My doctor prescribed Tagamet. I lost thirty pounds and it went away.
