The native americans were here first…they deserve as much money and benefits as we can give them…including water rights.

the newcomers from England were friends with the native americans. It was when we started claiming the states for the white man the natives tried to fight for their rights but they were hunted, hearded up and hauled off to horrible living conditions which killed many of them…I am bitter about what happend to the native amercans…one time the white man gave the native americans blankets infected with the flu and they all died…story goes a lot deeper than this…

Indians (native americans) are true americans, and they were here first. Same with Canada.
Then horrible whites destroyed their land, ripped their families apart, and much worse. The horrible government is still trying to rid of them, just more discretely and it’s awful.

Yeah they signed contracts with the natives and split up the land between them giving the natives what they thought was useless land and when they saw something they wanted they took it. Effing thieves

In Alaska, the Native Alaskan were here than started having contact with Russians first over the Bering Sea. The Russians brought vodka and trinkets for seal hides, ivory, and whale meat, plus began stripping away the culture and forced Christianity on the Natives. Also, as with Native Americans, the decimation of their native subsistence diet led to increased in diet-related diseases like diabetes. After the gold rushes of the late 1800s, after the slaughter and close extinction of many sea mammals, the Russians sold Alaska to the U.S. cuz they didn’t think it was worth anything anymore. Now, the Native Alaskans in some areas have retained their culture and traditions but alcohol, diabetes and heart disease, and drugs still keep them from re-entering their potential. I’m a white person but just wish we wouldn’t have been so greedy and come in from the East and the West. There are few peoples on this Earth that still have their innocence…

I don’t know if it is good now to let them ‘live’ in prehistoric conditions.
America wasn’t “discovered” like it was some isolated, empty new land that nobody knew about. The Native-Americans had already been living here for thousands of years and they weren’t savages. Many of them had great cities and societies that were as sophisticated and advanced or even more advanced than many places in Europe or elsewhere around the world at the time.

I some time think, why it didn’t happened to India (Bharat).After independent not any European were left behind in India like Africa and America.

I think it’s because India was fairly well populated even under English rule. I admire the ability of Indians to retain their culture and beliefs DESPITE the interference of foreigners. Perhaps if more of the Native Americans could have united their forces prior to decimation they could have kept the Whites from taking everything…but, also, the viral diseases of the Europeans started wiping them out from the first landing, with small pox then others (like flu, as mentioned) that killed off a great many, in South and Central America, too. Perhaps the Indians had greater immunity.

I live in an area in Canada highly populated with Native Americans. I have a small amount of Native American in me which makes me a Metis (White mixed with Native American). White’s and Native American’s don’t always get a long here, there’s a lot of gang activity and cultural differences but the majority of them are good people who are easy to get a long with. And the Native American’s came first.
It is simply because they were already ‘connected’ with the rest of the world while in the americas they were isolated.

Yes, you are right, but I think as a indian we are able to compete. Also in Muslim rules there are a lot of movements to fight. Muslim wins with the help of their new thoughts and concepts like European. But we Indian are very flexible with our belief and react fast. I said that because there are hundreds of view to look a point, so what suits to our culture is important.
My opinion isn’t always popular, but I figure I’m Canadian and they’re Canadian and we should all be Canadian together. I truly don’t give an arse about grudges from 100 years before we were all born. Grow up and move on.
