I’ve been to Kennebunkport. (sp?) Really nice in summer.
I love hiking too but the ticks, are terrible this year! pulled off 5 yesterday…gonna take a break today from hiking because of it. I need to get a preventive medicine for lyme disease
yeah didn’t think about that. an overlooked danger.
my mom says the ticks have cyclical lifestyles and this is the worst year. next year shouldn’t be so bad
If I wasn’t sick, NYC or SF…ill probably stay in Cali because of the benefits. If my family moves, I’ll probably go with them because i hate being alone. Cali is expensive.
I am staying put.
Would like to do a Phd in mathematics, and work as a university lecturer in Israel.
SF is very expensive. Even cities near SF, like San Jose, are very expensive.
yeah I heard the rent prices in SF are ridiculous. Worse than here. I live in a city now that’s not so expensive as other places in Fairfield county
but still ridiculous!
I believe SF is the most expensive city to live in the country. More expensive than NYC or LA.
True. My goal was to get good grades as a math major from a top school and work in finance at a boutique bank or do equities, but that plan fell through. Bankers make good money and SF has culture and is beautiful.
I heard California’s public universities are fairly reasonable, but sz is hard to overcome. (If I was younger I’d love to attend Stanford.)
Is Stanford public? I don’t think so…hmm
I’d move to Britain if I had the money and health. Somewhere on the west coast of it.
Yes, public universities in California are affordable but private schools like Stanford give more money. So going to an ivy, being poor, would be cheaper than a top public school unless you got free housing or scholarships. I would get free tuition but id have to pay high rent and travel expenses. Plus, math is very hard for me.
UC Berkeley is public, and has the best mathematics department in the world.
I was thinking of moving if I got a job but I think I am going to stay where I am for now. Might be making an offer on a house here in Louisiana today.
Good luck on the offer. It’s a seller’s market right now, but I hope your offer is accepted.
Thanks @anon17132524 I spoke with the owner. She told me what she was willing to accept and it’s under value on Zillow but I haven’t gotten an appraisal yet. We will see. I am buying with a VA no money down so I will take all the equity I can get.
I was away–not sure if this caused your meta thread.
I used the VA home loan on the house that I currently live in. I could have borrowed up to $300K, but I borrowed less because I didn’t want to be house poor. I was able to get 2.000%, 30-year fixed.
Do you know if I can use the VA home loan more than once? I’ll google that.
Yeah, get the appraisal and inspection (including termite and wind). Also, check for flooding and drainage. You know the drill. Good luck.
Yes. This will be my second home with a VA loan. I own another one in Texas. You can borrow about $435,000 in most states in the US before your benefit is used up.
If you’ve got seasonal depression I would avoid Oregon. The sun does not shine here from October-May. A LOT of people get seasonal depression here.
