I remember that I watched CNN news in Michigan in 1989 when I studied at the business school. CNN played this song while broadcasting actual events from Berlin.
I was listening. I had a grandmother in East Germany.
I was 8. I remember watching it with my parents on the evening news.
I wasn’t born. 15 freaking characters…
In the den in front of the TV. I was kind of aw-struck that it was really happening - so easily?
I was in Michigan also but not into politics at all during the time and did not even know what the Berlin wall was. This was about two to three years before my schizophrenic symptoms really started with me.
\I was a wee 13 yr old boy on the cusp of entering his karma stage (bullying at school).!!
mrs. sith was in germany…she celebrated with champagne and beer !
take care
I was 5 and in playschool
I was 4. I wasn’t paying attention then.
But now… seeing the footage and the gleefulness of the event… It’s really cool that it finally came down.
I would have been about 7 years old and I can remember being in my parents bedroom watching it on their little tv. I had a vague concept that the world was divided along some form of what I now know as ideological lines. I can remember looking at the Soviet Union on my little globe and thinking it was so much bigger than the our country and wondering if they were really bad or not.
“Tear down that wall Mr.Gorbachev”.
I remember watching it but I’m not sure where I was. I was either in a Residential Treatment Home or in a Board & Care home.
I was in Munich, Germany, and I had a friend that went to Berlin.
She brought me back a piece of the wall that I traded her for some rocks I picked up off the ground at the concentration camp “Dachau”.
