When you talk about triggers what do you mean?

I stayed in mental hospital for over a month because I yelled at a psychiatrist and he brought me to court. The judge decided that I stay longer in mental hospital.

I spent 5 months in a mental health facility when I was first diagnosed in 2004. It was a nice place so it was tolerable but by the end I was happy to get out of there. But that wasn’t against my will, I wanted the help.

Then in 2018 I was locked up against my will for two 2 week periods and one of the pdocs wanted to permanently lock me up. I was angry and beligerant because threatening my freedom triggers me but she interpreted it as me being unreasonable and crazy. I hated that pdoc, luckily my mom said no to that and I got a new pdoc, was released and lived happily ever after.

Nothing really triggers me anymore. I understand that certain things do trigger others, though.

I was court-ordered into the State Hospital. They didn’t have any beds so they sent me to the Baptist Hospital psych ward. I was there for a month.

I have to avoid things that crank my stress levels, fit with old delusions, or trigger old addictions. The desire for weed hasn’t faded much over the years. It’s always just hovering in the background. I really have a hard time with the cannabis discussions people keep wanting to get going here. Some of the alien conversations people try to have here in UB also wake up my dark passenger and get it humming in my head. The last thing I can think of is stuff with kids being hurt or worse. I had to stop using the site for a bit every time that @#$%ing convo about the last school shooting kept popping into sight.

That’s good @Bowens. I really wish nothing triggered me. I hope to get there one day.

I’m one of those people who think they are broadcasting about them on TV, when my AP isn’t working.

Congrats to you both - that’s AWESOME!!!

Yes, stress triggers voices that then trigger delusions for me, not always. I can handle voices now and then. Stress can like you said put them on a rampage.

Thanks @ozymandias.

I was overwhelmed at working full-time, but it was a really good job. I’m just getting over the trigger. Thanks for sharing.

my triggers are often things I used to be delusional about…especially live t.v, and knives, give me the creeps…

Certain people trigger me. That’s a big reason why I am so isolative, reclusive. I never know who is going to trigger me.
