I didn’t know this. Most of the women in my family were diabetic. Now I need to read about my meds and diabetes.

well i dont have a weighnt prob and i lost most of the weight i gained on invega i dont have that problem i just drink alot of sugary drinks

Swap out the sugary drinks for diet ones. I discovered the 7 up free and it tastes great. I also have a very low sugar ginger beer that has 5 calories which I love after a work out.

I am hoping to reverse diabetes type 2 by weight loss. i lost 2kg recently. A few kilograms to go yet!

I developed diabetes years ago because I was eating lots of junk food.
I was not on an Antipsychotic at the time but taking lithium and other meds.
I was overweight.

If you take antipsychotics, they can definitely cause diabetes.

yup i take antipsycotics drink sugary drinks and all the food i eat is microavable im prob gonna get diabeties

Not on their own. But they can raise bloodsugar and slow down the metabolism, which causes weight-gain.
The high bloodsugar and being overweight can cause diabetes down the line, but antipsychotics themselves don’t cause diabetes.

Please don’t spread lies about treatments just because you’re against them for some reason.

Incredibly good if you’re put on Zyprexa and experience explosive weight gain.

Diabetes mellitus is common in schizophrenics.I developed mine while on Risperdal Consta. No doctor told me to check blood sugar while on it.Now I take Glucophage XR 1000 mg a day and it’s under control. It has nothing to do with food, only sweets can mess with it and contribute with developing it.So just don’t eat sugar.
