Yeah I had heard about this condition. It would be scary to live with it. I hope you don’t experience anything similar @firemonkey !!
I can really relate to this. There have been a few times when I have mixed up people in the past. It’s like I see the face and can’t pinpoint it in my minds designation.
One time when I was a child at boarding school I didn’t recognise my own mother when she came to see me at the sports day. She had had a hair cut, but still. The face was familiar but I couldn’t place it. It was very frightening to me. Don’t know if that is similar?
There was this high street shop which had 4 large posters in its windows. It was the same model in each photo but with different clothes and hair cuts in each photo. I was sure it was a different woman in each photo.

I scored 54% the first time I tried it.
53% but I don’t see how anyone could score high on this it looks impossible!
I scored 76%, so its not face blindness. I put my inability down to a form of dissociation. I have a record of it.
People with prosopagnosia process faces like they process other visual stimuli. This makes it very difficult to tell people apart and to remember faces. Normally, faces (and sometimes other categories of objects which you are extremely familiar with) are processed in a separate brain area called the FFA. This image is a good example of how differently we normally experience faces from other visual stimuli. The FFA is very sensitive to orientation, so upside-down faces are more difficult to recognize and can seem very different when turned around to their more normal orientation.
Notice how the edited upside-down version of Margaret Thatcher looks a little weird, but not horrifying. That all changes when it is turned around and processed like we normally process faces.
Gotta love neuroscience.
i scored 90% think its ok
That image is horribly triggering for me. I regret ever seeing it. Now I’m worried the woman in the picture is going to come hunt me down and kill me.
