What was your childhood like?

Was OK “ish” I learnt early on I wasn’t popular at school or outside, so spent my days on a commodore 64. Bit of a mummy’s boy in all honesty. Other kids always played football, wasn’t my thing and to this day I still can’t stand it or any other sport.

“I thought you wanted to express yourself?”

And there it is. The truth of what a lot of people are feeling.

I was sexually and emotionally abused. Was bullied in school. My mother also in that time had psychosis and depression. She did some awful things to me. The only thing I learned in life ist that I never get accepted and that everybody does anything to make my life worse.

sports. lots of sports to keep me from getting serious about school. basketball, baseball, soccer, football, track and field, then church on sunday. that’s my childhood in a nutshell.

o yeah and watching lots of tv and eating fast food, because mom and dad rarely cooked.

Virtual Hugs @Vuldarz. That is so sad. I am sorry that happened to you. I have SZ and three kids. I take my meds which work pretty well and I am seeing my therapist tomorrow. I would hate to see my children suffer and want them to be happy. I hope they don’t develop my SZ. You deserve to be happy!

Do any parents really know what they are doing? Seems like many people have psych issues.

Extremely chaotic. I had my physical needs taken care of but I never had emotional support through everything. It took a few solid friends I made in my late teens for me to finally learn the value of that kind of support.

I had a great childhood everything was pretty good until schizophrenia

I think I mostly had a happy childhood, but sometimes I think “then again”. What I liked most about my childhood was that I felt very relaxed. But I had the most intense crushes on these girls. They hurt. I often got the girl, but then I would sabotage the relationship. I remember one time I went swimming, and I was surprised to realize that I hadn’t thought about this girl for thirty minutes. I have heard other guys express the same thing.
