I am very worried about my mental health. But I can not figure it out. What should I really pay attention to?
I have been told that if you suffer from hallicuations and delusions you have to watch out. But how can you measure that? That can not be measured because it is real at that moment.
That’s why I ask you. What should I pay attention to?
Please do not give answers such as when you suffer from hallicunations or delusions.
but I have a chronic sense of discontent. And I suffer from chronic mild psychotic symptoms that never leave what I do. I took more antipsychotics for a while to see if the symptoms were less. But it does not work.
but I have a little bit of the idea that I’ve finished. I have followed multiple therapies. And the psychiatrist and assistance also say to me people with psychosis of some complaints never go away. They want to try with medicines to make life easier, but they also say that it is not useful in connection with side effects… pff
I can wear my life like that. But it will be a heavy life.
Regular appointments with your pdoc plus if you have hallucinations and people start telling you that you are are wrong or believe weird things these are also red flags…
My doctor told me there was nothing I could do and I would always have a lot of breakthrough symptoms, but I wasnt satisfied and added the haldol injection on top of my meds and it really helped. I half close to half the symptoms I had before. Doctor’s are sometimes wrong. Keep trying to get rid of those breakthroughs.
so a journal of symptoms then? such describe the hallucination, then maybe how he responded to that hallucination?
then bring that to place in the guys hand at the clinic?
This is an area of help I struggle with too. I often dont know what to say except that if they believe hallucinations that they are out of their own control.
At that point, would they not need a family member to intervine in their mental health care?
we, my family and I. All suffer from delusions. We have trouble trusting people and struggling to enter into and retain relationships. We never had any problems with hallicunations. Only me in the time of psychosis. Only innocent auditory hallicunations.
so yes, it is not really convenient to take them to the mental health care.
But you also experience “mild psychotic symptoms”. And when it worsens, do you intervene? That’s too bad. This is not going well now I need help?
I was hoping, that if you ever felt you simply did not know what to believe, a family member could serve as a informal medical advocate for you.
Medical advocates may go to appointments with you, or make suggestions or help educate the patient. That is what you are doing here, right now, you are seeking education and advice.
They may too, make sure that you remember to tell doctors what is happening. This ensures that doctors at least hear your problems and problems are not forgoten about.
All of this would be done in co-operation with the patient. It is not forced on them.
I think Everhopeful has some good advice. A spiralnote book and pen is all that is needed.
Write down and underline the date and time. Under that, write a quick description of what you believe to be a delusion or hallucination.
You may have to do this many times a day? I think this would give them an idea of the frequency and severity of it happening. You may even write down if you are unsure if it is a delusion or hallcination.
When they ask how you are doing at your appointment, hand them the note book.
I would then just sit quietly so they could read. Wait for the person to finish glancing it over.
When they start talking they are done reading. You can say any thing else you need to say then. This may include this original post you started.
Zeno’s post sounds like good information for you to use at home too. It sounds like it could help.
