Just got home from seeing my pdoc… hey is winging me off risperdal and putting me on Abilify. For those that take or use to take Abilify how was it? Was there weight gain or lose?

Abilify was hecticly activating for me. Made me so manic holy shiit !!
It also gave me this white flashing in my eyes everytime i closed them.
Couldnt sleep.
But yea, it was very activating for me

10mg is the minimum dose for schizophrenia.
Everybody reacts differently to it.
It increased my blood sugar and I now have to take metformin for that. So get regular blood checks.
It increased my anxiety 5 fold but I take an over the counter supplement called beta alanine that helps with that.

Abilify has been a good med for me personally. I’m on 10 mg at the moment.
Had really bad restlessness for about a month and it went away.
Happy I stuck with it and haven’t seen any change with my weight.

Well, I had more energy compared with risperidal, but I had worst results in school 
I was at my best physically on Abilify.
Minimum weight gain and normal blood glucose levels.
The problem was that Abilify was way too activating for me.
It made me super anxious and paranoid.
I had to come off of it.

Just because I had a bad experience with Abilify it doesn’t mean it won’t work for you @Longhorn21!
Lots of people are doing well with Abilify, it’s a favorite among many psychiatrists.

Abilify took away almost all of my positive symptoms when I was on it a few years ago. I still had some paranoia. I gained about 50 pounds in a year and a half, but I was stress eating sometimes, so that might account for it. I lost the weight with no trouble once I was off though, with no change in eating habits. I think it just didn’t agree with me. I too had anxiety on it, which I partially controlled with Klonopin.

hey so sorry i made a mistake on my previous post, i thought you were talking about paliperidone. I also took Abilify, my initial thoughts were that it was really good and brought me out of my depression.

AMbilify was not for me it make me feel like not who I am
I hate it but its the only app iv tried it makes me feel like im not in control of my breathing. I have like almost no motivation. I take 15mgs I feel like a robot but that’s with all the medicine I suppose
abilify wouldnt help me sleep (shoutout to insomnia), it didn’t cause weight gain in me but it did cause hand tremors so i had to stop taking it
The sleep you get is so light, pretty much anything wakes me up. I also sleep walk a little.
The face twitches i get sometimes, also leg twitches when im going to sleep.
also some mania is involved once and awhile. Though i prefer this over the risperidone i was given

Today was day one of taking it and I went like 4 hours straight of just cleaning the house. But now i’m Chilled and relaxed
