What’s the aesthetic of your house like?

I like old houses and I am an avid collector of antique furniture (often picked up from the side of the road). I also collect indoor houseplants so some rooms in my house are a bit of a jungle. Definitely not a minimalist!

What are your interiors like? Can the way you decorate reflect the state of your mind? My house is a touch chaotic and my brain is often in chaos to match!

And so on…

Imagine a beautiful landscape with a river flowing quietly through a shallow valley, surrounded by hills.

Now replace the river with carpet, and the hills with piles of clothes.

Functional and dark. You can tell a bloke lives here on his own lol.

A tip at the moment cause we are in the process of moving and packing. Will be a few more weeks before we are in our new place though cause some work needs doing on it.

It’s a sort of run-down aesthetic, you know?
The kind where your bathroom never looks clean no matter how much you clean it.
And where you don’t really care how your furniture looks, because you’re not sure it would really help that much if it even did look good.

Can’t wait to move.

Currently I live in a largely empty small flat and that’s how I intend to keep it, I can’t cope with anything more complicated than that. I still haven’t cleaned since moving in (but I’m starting today) 6 weeks ago. I only have one piece of furniture in the main room, a sofa bed. I’m planning on getting an orthodox style icon for the entrance, and a nice pic by a photographer friend in the kitchen area. That’s it.

Hmmm, well technically it’s my mom’s house

But her style is kinda classic-contemporary mixed with a little Scandinavian influence.

Knick knacks here and there.

We’ve got a lot of potted plants as well.

My room is like classic-contemporary meets nature boho, if that makes any sense .

I like it in there… It’s my cave :upside_down_face:.

Old homes are more fun. But they have more problems.

I intentionally Bought a post WW II ranch for ease of maintenance. The entire exterior of my house is aluminum & it’s in the process of getting painted r n.

It’ll look nice, but won’t have the character of an early 1900’s home

You are sensible and logical - I could do with some of that from time to time. I’m drawn to weird bits of stuff falling from my ceiling and random leaks. History is a challenge.

I’m currently living with my in-laws, but their house is very 90’s farmhouse. The living room is the only updated room and it’s more mid 2000’s farmhouse with light brown walls and red and light brown plaid curtains things.

It’s definitely not something I would pick. I can’t wait to get a place of our own so I can actually decorate how I want.

What will your place be like? I’m guessing not 90’s farm house.

No idea. Lol More blacks and greys, though. And at least one wall full of Little LED’s art. All our furniture is black.

I have a lot of IKEA furniture, and my desk is from Staples stationary store. My apartment is a mix of modern with feminine touches like a floral wreath, a vase of flowers, and some 3D butterflies stuck to one of my walls.

My area is geek. My wife’s areas are cluttered with knick-knacks from her parents, grandparents, etc. It’s a constant fight to keep doileys off of things.

“But my grandmother crocheted it!”
“And?”

My place is cheap but has a scheme. Grey and turquoise, espresso wood. All the furniture came in a box and had to be built. Everything is new and bought on a very low budget. But it came out kind of nice I think. Right now I’m working on making final touches like flower arrangements and more wreaths. I also need window treatments and need to get some last paintings on the walls.

My house is very minimalist.

We have the furniture we need and not a lot of clutter.

Some art that is pretty nice, as I worked for an artist for a while.

There’s a lot more clutter in my husband’s mancave, but he’s in charge of that.

It’s easier to clean without stuff everywhere and I’m kind of weird about keeping a very clean house.
