What % of the sz/sza population you think knows about this forum?

Like 90% of the affected population?
Like 50 tending to 75% for youths and 25% for older people?
More like 1%. 1 into 100?

I just know a young person with sz that lives a “normal” life and I’m pretty sure she isn’t in the forum.
But it’s difficult to know people with this illness because of the taboo associated with it.
For some reason there is a big amount of USA citizens here compared to other countries.

Personally I think this forum is not very hard to find, just by doing a quick google search.

According to the site statistics, there have been 9,800 signups since this forum began.

That’s miniscule compared to the amount of schizophrenics in the world .

Well, I did a quick Google search of “how many schizophrenics have insight”. This was the top result:

So, keeping in mind that (apparently) only 3% of schizophrenics have insight, knowing that they are sick… how many of those people with insight actually seek online support? Probably not very many. A small percentage of the 3%…

Aha… very interesting. So its 3% of the sz population with minimal insight needed?

We can consider us all very lucky in that case

There is a certain subreddit that i’ve seen is used to confirm delusions. That has over 43k members pretty sad.

According to pubmed

About 30% to 50% of people with schizophrenia experience lack of insight, meaning they may not acknowledge their illness or the need for treatment.

Hmm. That’s a big difference, between our search results. Makes me wonder how accurate the sources are. I’m genuinely curious to know which one is correct. Or maybe they’re both off? I dunno.

Very few because we dont think of there being a forum thats available. Much less that the forum would be good.

I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful and calming the forum is and the help it gives to understand the illness or come to terms with it

Yeah, it’s confusing

Unfortunately we have people come on and try to undermine the support and sanity we find here. Most are from reddit or facebook. They are in the grips of their delusions or have had false narratives placed in their heads by other very sick people.

I mean reddit is decent, not great, for certain things. But it can be awful for others.

Yeah reddit is alright I use it to keep in touch with stuff I love or just for the memes.

I think it would be healthy to have an unbiased platform to explore what people have experienced during their long term battles with this ‘thing’ and what they made of it.

It would also be interesting to conduct a cross reference survey to spot the patterns.

Very overly sheltered and learning towards the security of it’s just a dream or bad thing instead of battling with this thing every day and fighting the insanity of the situational trap.

No, all of us just prefer to live in a real world not an imaginary one created by a sick brain.

We WANT to get better. We do not want to wallow in false narratives and conspiracy theories.

I guess I can see why a lot of schizophrenics haven’t found the forum. I stumbled upon it Internet searching for “Geodon side effects or antipsychotic side effects” forum.

I was hoping to find candid conversations on medication. I believed I had side effects which weren’t listed as regular side effects.

Then, I was able to find an active forum where I could post my own question and get pretty quick responses.
