I’m 1/4 Polish, and the rest is mostly German, with some bits of other stuff mixed in. My mom’s family has been in the U.S. for just a few generations, all German on her dad’s side and all Polish on her mom’s side. My dad’s family has been in the U.S. for much longer, so they’ve had more time to mix, though still mostly German.

Both my parents were DNA tested from 23 and Me.
From my Mothers side - European (Italian and Southern European/Balkan)
From my Fathers side - Middle Eastern and North Africa and European. Mainly Syrian and Italian.
I also have some Native American and East Asian Blood lines from both sides.

It’s a fun thing to do but one thing is to try not to take the results too literally(something I’m guilty of). At a regional level , distinguishing European from Asian for example, it works well. It gets more problematic at a subregional level ie distinguishing French from German for example.

I have no idea really. I am white. I know I have very little Native American from my Mom’s side and on my Dad’s side, we were Irish, then we were Dutch and now we are Scottish. I don’t fu*ckin know.
I need to get one of those tests, they are kinda spendy though

I don’t know the split but it includes firstly English, and in no particular order Irish, Spanish and Portuguese.
Basically my heritage is catholic to make things simple. Not religious though.

So I guess you would come up as Eastern European on a calculator with West European for the Austrian,depending on the calculator( I don’t think 23andMe uses West European as a category)
