Very exciting!
Both my parents had their DNA checked.
It was worth every penny!

I did an Ancestry test once.

I found out I was 30% Irish and 70% jackass!

Yes. My geographical ancestry I guess. I’m probably mostly European with a little Native American mixed in

What’s the remaining 6percent? If you don’t mind?

Here’s what I got:
• Ireland/Scotland/Wales51%
• Europe West28%
• Scandinavia7%
The real value of DNA testing would be to find the genes for schizophrenia. Unfortunately, no one would want to admit to having it.

I ran my ancestry results through a site through Promethease (there are others) that compare the data to research studies. I have a few sz related genes. It does not mean you will get something just that it is more likely.

I actually need DNA testing, not for geographical ancestry, but because of a possibility to have a genetic disorder. Welp. But I would love to find out who I am!

These Dna things aren’t of any value for people like me. There is little data on people where I come from, we have hundreds of languages and ethnic groupings in a small geographical region.

Is it really DNA testing anymore or is it DNA analyzing?

Where are you from? Your ancestors are from Africa right?

The physical doctor that sees us once a month told me that the white people in America are mostly Celtic in their genetic makeup. He said neither the Anglo-Saxons nor the Normans came in with enough numbers to change the gene pool very much. If someone takes exception to this, blame our doctor, not me. I’m just repeating what he said.

That’s cool 15141515

I think you’re probably right about the Celtic thing. My grandmothers maiden name was German tho so I think a few Germans settled here.

they would probably call it something like sub saharan african on the test, might narrow it down to a region like east africa

political boundaries are constantly changing, colonialists chopped africa up in europes image and that has caused many issues in recent history bcoz those boundaries don’t reflect divisions which exist between africans. some africans love controlling other africans, so they love the european political ideas, took it all in stride and became leaders in their particular regions, often using violence to rise.

of course, wherever else we go we look different enough from everyone else that we are just recognized as “black” and that’s good enough for many people.

many of us are poor and cannot afford to take these tests and contribute to their data. or perhaps we don’t manifest that same pride and fascination which other modern people seem to have concerning the specifics of where their ancestors came from and whatnot. to make matters worse, they cannot study us in detail bcoz our precolonial history was not documented in writing
