I don’t know exactly what it is but I like to spend it with family.

The “true meaning of Christmas” is a phrase with a long history in American pop culture. It first appears in the mid-19th century, and is often given vaguely religious overtones, suggesting that the “true meaning of Christmas” is the celebration of the Nativity of Christ.

Day off from work. That’s all I care about.
Just kidding.
Christmas is spending the day with family. A day when everybody is on their best behaviour. Good food. Watching 'White Christmas" with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye with my family every year.

Cursing my neighbors and hoping bad things happen to them. Causing trouble to tailgaters. Smashing bed bugs into oblivion.

Oops. Excuse me. Ignore what I just wrote, I got sidetracked for a second. Sorry

Anyways. Going to the local soup kitchen and serving food for the homeless. Maybe getting the radio I want. Listening to Christmas music. This is my Christmas.

apparently the Crosby family had real problems, 2 of his sons shot themselves in the head at xmas apparently

Well yes, despite his public image for many years as the cheery ever charming easy-going, genial guy the public saw, his sons tell a different story about the Crosby family. Apparently in real life he was a strict, mean, cold guy who belittled his sons and other mean stuff.

My dad says Jesus is the reason for the season. I think it’s more about whatever makes your winter solstice feel like hope is there regardless of your local weather. Hold onto hope. And if strings of lights do it for you, hang those babies up.

The true meaning of Christmas is about the possibility of rebirth and renewal. It is about the ability of the human race to start over again and find peace. It is about the best parts of ourselves joining together all over the world as a single entity full of goodness and love.

If only this happened:sob:

I like your interpretation though

Well shamans drank reindeer piss, in which the reindeers ate halluciengic mushrooms. So when they drank their piss, these mushrooms gave a effect as feeling of flying, and the mushrooms where red caps, getting the metaphor of Santa flying in the sky with reindeers. So for us I guess it’s Christmas everyday of the week.

Well, they say a fat elf is supposed to fly to my house on a magical sleigh, then climb down my chimney, eat my food, and leave me gifts. 20 years and I’m still waiting for this to happen…
Christmas is about the birth of Jesus. We celebrate, be with family, take a break from life, stuff ourselves with unhealthy food, sing carols, exchange gifts, and try our best to be merry in all this excitement.

There are no true meanings, we are living in the last stage of simulacrum.
Lol :scream_cat:
That’s what Jean Baudrillard said a while ago.

Family, love, joy, peace, comfort, hospitality, food, and for many church and Jesus
