What is the deal with feminism? I dont quite understand it

that’s where the extended family of old could come in granny looking after the grand babies whilst mother does her thing. now we have isolated nuclear families all living in different places African saying it takes a village to raise a child.

used to be a whole family would live in the same street.

Feminism? How about masculism? My grand nieces have been cared for almost from birth by their father while Mom works as a dentist. Now my nephew is going to graduate school so Grandpa, who just retired has the job of daytime care for the kids. Grandma works.

I have been sexually assaulted by, and sexually harassed by many men. So, yes, I guess that makes me a feminist. That shouldn’t have been done to me.

I’m sorry you went through that, but, that doesn’t MAKE you a feminist. I have been raped and I am still against feminists. Those two things are not directly related. It’s like saying I don’t believe that there should be rapists, so, I am a feminist… Feminism is about equality of the sexes. Men are raped too!

There is no equality. There’s only superiority. Men have always known this. Now women know it too. I mean women have always known it from the bottom looking up. But now they act on it to gain advantage.

When I think of women’s issues I try to think about how I would want my mother or sister or nieces to be treated. It’s about respecting people regardless of gender. A woman deserves the same rights as a man.

i just tell the hardcore feminists “hey if you wanna pay me for sex thats just A okay with me”

kidding. but really they always insist on paying for everything because of independance , the i dont need a man attitude etc…

I don’t know, when I got my BA in the late 90s I went to an all women’s college and took some women studies courses. I thought at the time it was so profound to hear the lecture on how classic fairy tales are opressive for women and we shouldn’t read cinderella and snow white to our children. but these days I love ideas really in those stories, good always wins over evil, chivalry should not be dead. I have nothing against the gay community either in saying so. I remember a quote I saw a while ago, a gentleman opens a door for a lady not because she is a lady but because he is a gentleman, I liked that alot.

I don’t know - I open doors for whoever might be there - man or woman. Where there are gentlemen there are ladies. A feminist told me once the trouble with being treated like a lady is what’s expected in return - in whatever fashion.

I always open doors for people but I walk in first lol its a bad habit. I swing the door open really wide so they have enough time before it closes

I am glad you posted this quote. This is a quote I can backup.

Snow White & the Huntsman is one of my favorite films.

I am going to repeat what I posted earlier. Proper feminism is the elimination of superior/inferior biases, including speaking out against the feminist state. I repeat this statement because feminists such as the Women’s Party of America are up against cold, calculating feminists of the state, for reasons that have nothing to do with equal pay. Anyone who is familiar with the Atlantic’s Women, Money, and Bias: ‘The Economy Is Classist, Then Racist, Then Sexist’ will understand women are still battling and racking up victories. But in some instances, women in urban settings make more than men. That is not equal pay.

Proper feminists have as a priority establishing an end to domestic violence for all sexes, prosecuting perps, and properly accounting for taxpayer money when setting up domestic shelters, not just for women but for men. Proof that the feminist state has wasted taxpayer money, not prosecuted perps, and has caused more harm than good when it comes to domestic violence is available to read in Linda Kelly’s work linked, and in my first post about the Women’s Party of America.

I am aware I am repeating myself. In my defense, the reason I repeat myself is because Proper Feminism is a big deal. And it’s not about women. Proper feminism is about eliminating superior/inferior biases, about providing domestic abuse shelters for all sexes and for equal pay for all sexes.

I am a multiple rape survivor. Most of what I experienced happen to me when I was a street kid. In the work place, I have experienced some sexual harassment by both men and women.

It’s creepy, CarolineC. It’s creepy and damaging. And many words can flow to set up walls that are not to be penetrated.

I hope you never encounter the ruthless feminists on top of all that. Hope only that you interact with Proper Feminists, which also happen to be men.

Not a whole lot of feminists back in they day.

The work was harsh and painful back then, they’d rather stay at home and watch the kids back then.

Because who wants to chop wood in the dead of winter right?! They didn’t want those rights back then.

There is a goddess in every woman, a blessed woman. But to hate men and to spit on who they are and say such things is very provocative, (and ignorant). I like the theory of the respect of Spartan women.

If you’re a feminist I suggest you go to Israel, get joint citizenship and join the Israeli defense forces. There, women and men are given the same expectations when it comes to giving to their country. (unlike the US armed forces, women are true combatants in every way of their developments and their missions in the IDF).

NOW! Let’s look at some hot IDF girls:

Ok so here’s the basic rundown.

Feminism began as a movement to gain equal rights between men and women, ya know, before women could vote, go to college, get higher level jobs, etc. So it was a really great and important thing.

Nowadays it is still meant to be a movement for gender equality. (Still a pay gap between genders, glass ceiling aka less women hired for upper level jobs, combating rape and sexual abuse, etc) . HOWEVER a certain group of people (dubbed “feminazis” by the internet) decided to adopt feminism and twist it into something incredibly corrupted and mysoginistic. They literally hate men and want women to be the dominant gender. Some of them have even called for genocide of men.

These people can hardly even be considered feminists, more just misogynists. However, since they’re a very loud group, and offensive and call themselves feminists, this is now what people think of feminism, even though TRUE feminism is still a benign movement to maintain equality between the sexes and fight for equality in the countries that aren’t even close to having it yet. They pretty much ruined the image and now no one wants to associate themselves with the “F” word, even though almost everyone in the U.S. supports equal rights, which technically makes them feminists!

And that’s the whole sad story of how a good thing got messed up because of some hateful people.
