Actually - the more moderators you have the more complex and difficult the moderator task is - because every moderator interprets the rules a little differently - and then you need moderators of the moderators - which is time consuming (and I dont’ have much time).
And sometimes in the past we’ve had some highly abusive posters here - and that causes a lot of stress for the moderators. We’ve had many moderators complain about the hassles and stress of moderating - thats why we say that. Many people try it and just don’t like doing it. And as Pixel mentioned - it can get difficult to both moderate and participate in the forums - these are two different kinds of roles and people treat moderators differently - for good an bad.
how about you invite bridgecommet to be a moderator? if shes doesn’t want to she doesn’t have to I just would like some female schizophrenic moderation.
Funny you should mention that. I just PMed @SzAdmin in the last 24 hours to let him know that I’m stepping back from moderator duties for a bit because of med issues. I’m not entirely stable. I’m ill-tempered. I’m shaky. I feel like garbage. I’ve also had to cut back on volunteer commitments. I really can’t handle moderating right now.
On a lot of forums with a fair number of moderators there is discussion amongst the
moderators as to what action to take and a consensual decision is arrived at. Or does the software not allow for the moderators to have group discussions?
OK - I think this discussion has run its course. We add moderators when we feel the need and we’ll try to add a female person with schizophrenia at some point in the process, but thats not the only criteria we have.
