What is easy to do with negative symptoms?

Is it easy, to socialize, or to do things you enjoy ect.?

Nothing is easy.

To be honest, for me it’s sleeping and staring at a wall without blinking.

How do you motivate yourself to do things?

For me, I have to go outside to get food, but that’s when I’m absolutely starving. And take out the trash when it’s beyond full.

I am trying to figure out what negative symptoms are like, to help people.

Do you not have negative symptoms yourself?

No, I don’t have negative symptoms.

Interesting, but you’re a schizophrenic right? Just without negative symptoms?

Yes, I am a schizophrenic. Yes, I don’t have any negative symptoms.

Interesting, well anyways, just imagine the joy being sucked out of everything you used to enjoy

The energy you get from healthy eating can make a difference in dealing with Negative Symptoms and getting things done.

I suffer from positive symptoms though, and I get episodes.

I sit around all day, I have no motivation and I don’t follow through with anything I start. I have lack of empathy and am emotionally flat. That’s what negative symptoms are like.

The sun shining through your window? Does nothing for you. The show you used to enjoy. Nothing. Looking outside, nothing. What’s the point of going outside if it isn’t gonna bring you any sense of joy or happiness?

So I covered mainly the anhedonia aspect, but I think the lack of motivation is pretty closely related to anhedonia in a sense, since nothing brings pleasure anymore. A normal person gets pleasure out of doing simple chores around their house. They get a sense of satifaction/ accomplishment. I get nothing out of doing chores. So why bother if there’s no reward?

I guess people with negatives symptoms need to figure out how to get mental strength, so they can function better. Do you still get effected, without doing things; I mean even if you are not motivated to do things; does it make you depressed and mentally exhausted still?

I don’t exactly know what you mean by that. Do you mean do I feel worse/ guilty if I have a messy apartment. No, not particularly. But also that would be because of apathy. It’s also an existential thing. What’s the point of life? What’s the point of doing anything if I can’t really feel anything anymore?

Sorry, I am stressed out…and hearing voices. I can’t concentrate right now. I’m going to wait until I feel better.
