What is a sure fire way to fall asleep quickly?

How does one have a good night sleep quickly? Any special recipes out there? My dad used to drive me at night to help me fall asleep in the car. I’ve tried drinking a banana, date and almond, soy milk smoothie.

A lot of people here say Melatonin helps. I haven’t tried it and haven’t found anything that helps me yet.

I have to use a sleep aid to sleep…I take trazadone…300 mg…my girlfriend only takes 100 mg…I heard eating watermelon before bed can help sleep…good luck.

Give binaural beats aimed at sleep a try. These knock me out, even if I wasn’t slightly sleepy before I started listening. I am not sure that’s because they adjust brainwaves as advertised or just relax me in some other way, but I find them very effective.

Go to the bed, jump in, close your eyes and mouth, and think sleep. Resist any wiggling, talking, eye opening and turn the brain on the Dream dial. Relax all parts, breath slowly in and out and repeat.

If that fails, just put yourself mentally back in the one place you’ve found to be the most un-stimulating place you’ve HAD to be awake in, but found you had shutter trouble-(you couldn’t keep your eyes open)…this works for me.

TV makes me sleepy, but my therapist is against me watching TV while falling asleep, says it’s bad for the brain. So I usually get sleepy in front of the tv and then go to bed.

I no longer watch much netflix right before falling asleep because I keep dozing off and miss a bunch of episodes and then need to find them again the day after.

I drink hot lemon at night. Boil kettle and squeeze some lemon into it. It helps me relax.

I just started reading a book. I find when i am more discipline with myself and say “ok I’m getting into bed at this time so I can read” Not long after reading I get very tired and relaxed I could just fall asleep with the book in my hand.

When I was on the drug “Elavil” I stayed on a regular sleep pattern for a while. This drug is known for helping people sleep. It is a tricyclic antidepressant combined with a sedative.

Or you could read the business section of “Time” magazine. That used to put me to sleep.

Ive been doing yoga for bedtime off youtube before bed to wind down. Very helpful.
