What is a good job?

So I’ve been on disability for the past 3 years. And just recently they said I have medical improved and I’m no longer disabled. I’m going to try and appeal it i have a hearing in a couple weeks for an appeal. So I’m trying to figure out want job I should try to get.just in case I don’t win. I haven’t work for about 4 years and my last job was pretty much a cashier at a department store. So I guess my question is what jobs do you guys have? I don’t feel I could do anything that involves being social. I’m very nervous about the interview process. I’ve never been good at talking to people and I feel it will be extra difficult to get a job by talking to someone and the fact that I haven’t worked for 4 years isn’t going to help either. So any advice would be appreciated

A good job to me is one that you get paid to do, and doesn’t make you feel like smashing a dozen or so expensive crystal punch bowl cups- then the whole punch bowl against the garage floor.

I personally like to re-arrange things…even things that aren’t mine, hence the title I’m known by ‘The Lone Arranger’.
Just wish I could get someone to pay me for doing it…that’d be a hoot.

If you can’t find anything that sounds like you’d want to try it, you might look into a temp agency, I believe they still do testing to see what type of work you’re suited for, and you get to work ‘temporarily’ in different types of jobs but are still employed by the agency.

I sort mail…

Try your local Post Office. Or search for mail sortation positions within large companies. My job suits me fine. I wear a ballcap and jeans to work every day. Low stress and good pay.

A job that you can do.
This depends on what suits the individual.
and what they want or are willing to do.

For me I think something simple and that does not require communicating and much socialising and chatting.

Also enough hours of work but not to much hours.Part time.
Im looking for 15 hours a week or so.
I only work 2 hours a week but managed keep job for quiet few months so happy bout that.
I just clean.basic cleaning in client home.

Post office work sounds good.
I applied for that but may reapply.

I was at job interview last week for position as kitchenhand, cleaner n laundry but have no laundry experience.

As for me ive been workaholic with eons making …(wont even write here) but my body been exhausted n not worked or not worked much.
I can do heaps of work with my spirit that cant do with my real body.

A disability employment agency could be helpful.

sorry about your disability xxx

how about a cleaning job, ost of those are where you are behind the scenes doing a good job where noone really sees you - if you are worried about that.

i usually clean the restaurant on a night in a busy hotel, but i only see the receptionist every now n then, because the restaurant is seperate from her but in the same building

it is ideal as i do 6 hours per night and i go in at midnight, finish at 6am so the rest of the day is mine xxx

see if you can do that somewhere near you.

Part-time, low stress, low enough responsibility that you can take time off when you need to. I work as a special education assistant. The kids neediness brings me out of myself and makes me focus on them, which saves me on a regular basis. I enjoy helping other people instead of focusing on myself. My hours are 7:45-2:15, so not too long of a day.
Good luck!

Used to be an Information Technology worker. Systems analysis and networking. Stress of working at a high level really messed up my health. Now drive a fuel truck (bulk delivery) and run a part-time photo studio. I have had SZ for over 20 years and am med compliant.

I found the most preferable job in fast food is delivering pizza. You get to get out of the store regularly, so the job isn’t as mush of a grind. You need a good car. It helps a lot if it gets good gas mileage because they pay you for the gas you use. You also get a little bit of money in tips, It’s not the kind of job you want to hang onto for a long time, but it is a good stop gap job because they are always hiring drivers.

I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 1980 when I was 19. I’m the shyest guy you’ll ever meet. But I have worked almost steadily since 1983, albeit, mostly part-time. I’m 55 years old now.

Here’s some of the jobs I’ve had. I must warn you that none of my jobs are professional or high paying. Most of my jobs have been physical labor or unskilled entry level jobs. I am not ashamed of this fact. My father grew up poor in the 1930’s during the Great Depression. When he started working he had no education beyond high school. A lot of his jobs were hard labor that you had to be tough as nails to handle them.

He worked in factories, paving roads, digging ditches etc. Later on when he and my mom got married and started a family, labor jobs were what supported our family for many years. So I grew up respecting hard, honest labor. Not all my jobs were hard, but I have worked my ass off in some tough, physical jobs that not everybody could handle. But I’ve had easy jobs too.

Here’s my list:
Hot tub technician. As general handyman.
2 restaurants
Recycling center.
Warehouse worker.
4 Department stores either unloading trucks, or stocking shelves. Unloading trucks was hard. I worked my ass off doing it for four years. I was in my early thirties at the time, and I outworked a bunch of 19 year olds and twenty year olds.
Construction (for a week).
Janitorial.
Assembly
Park Ranger.

And a few more that I am probably forgetting about.
Some of these jobs lasted 3 or 4 years, some lasted a week or two.

At most of these jobs, I did little talking unless I was forced too. Fortunately, when it came to being taught how to do my job or when the boss asked me to do something, I generally was able to communicate enough to do whatever I was asked.

I’ve been at my current job as a janitor for almost six years. It’s very easy. I’m talking college classes to be able to get a better job. Good luck.

I do maintenance for apartments ,not for everyone ,but I like it. Not so fun if you’re paranoid can be stressful. An assistant maintenance job or grounds keeper would be less stressful. Good part is your on your own mostly. You do have some small talk to break up the day. Every day is different. Think a good job for sz people would be driving delivery truck or van. Also bad part is sometimes your on call and can get called in the middle of the night.

Don’t know what your skills are maybe something in the Recycling industry, lots of work in it and not to much social interaction.

Maybe you can be an animation artist. I worked as one for 7 months. You almost have no contact with others and the job is fun.
