What ingredients do you think make a great social worker/psychiatric nurse

what do you think is the makings of them

Off the top of my head

Compassion, empathy, patience, an ability to work with/understand situations outside their experience without assigning value judgements, an ability to find meaning in the work itself independent of the results, an ability to be firm and deliver hard truths, an ability to leave work at work and keep home life separate. An ability to handle being disliked.

  1. Respect - I’m not your inferior.
  2. Tolerance - Treat me as you would like to be treated.
  3. Empathy - My mental health was not a choice, prior to this I was on top of the world, so be advised I’m not going to take unconstructive criticisms or coercement into treatments lightly.

Empathy, intelligence, hard work
