What ID do you have?

I have a US Passport book - all international travel, a US Passport Card - good for crossing the border into Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, or Bermuda only, and an Arkansas Drivers License.

I couldn’t find my DL the other day, but I had my US Passport Card on me. They accepted it at the bank to withdraw money. The funny thing is they don’t accept the Passport Card to vote here though. They only accept the book Passport if you don’t have an Arkansas ID. It beats me why though.

I have a Belgian ID card and a Belgian passport.

I wonder if there are people on the forum that have a dual nationality and multiple passports?

I’ve heard about that, but never met a dual citizen. I like to use my passport because the information on my birth certificate is sensitive. It shows my mom’s residence when I was born as the State Hospital. I don’t like showing my birth certificate because of that.

I’ve met several people with dual citizenship: Belgian & Iranian, Swiss & Japanese,…

It’s kinda cool I think. The best of both worlds.

I just have a standard driver’s license. Haven’t driven in ages though.

A regular “book” Passport in the US is $130.00 while the Passport Card is only $30.00.

Normal open car drivers licence and forklift ticket. I let my passport lapse because it’s like $300 for 10 years so I’m not planning on going anywhere overseas anytime soon.

Maybe it’s interesting to know that in Belgium all IDs are eIDs. They have a chip in it with your data and allow you to log-in to government applications using a code and an eID card reader.

Wow. $300.00. That’s rough. And I thought it was expensive in the US.

We are a captive market and a small economy. We pay more for pretty much everything accordingly. Just the way it is.

Yeah I know about that. The passports in the US have chips in them with your information. I don’t know about Arkansas ID’s though.

This is how they look like (it’s just a specimen pic not a real one).

In the US you now have to have a “Real ID” to enter a US government building or fly on a plane domestically. It’s the gold star in the upper right hand corner of the ID. Otherwise you have to have a US Passport. The Arkansas ID Only card is not a Real ID and can’t get in a government building or fly with it.

Drivers license.

None at the moment. My passport and drivers licence were stolen. In a moment when I was a little paranoid. So I didnt dare get a new. Then I made an appointment, and got COVID. And then I kind of let it go. Have been without for a long long time. I never use it. But I really need to get one. Thanks for the reminder. I am obliged to carry one, even if they can’t just ask for it for no reason.

I have a real ID now but I heard you can still fly with a regular one now. They extended that date.

I have a passport book but not the card. I just had that renewed last year. 2022.

I also have a military retired ID that’s good until I am 65.

I have a CDIB card, a veteran’s universal access card, an ID like a driver’s license, but doesn’t let you drive. It’s single function is to provide identification
