What I think about tattoos

Either a warrior or a serious badass who has endured equal pain should get them.

Too many posers. Tattoos on women? I think it’s hot. Tattoos on guys? Better back that ■■■■ up with a story, a grave story.

Does having some tattoos to cover up burn scars from a house fire count?

That’s why I have some of mine… that’s why my sis is getting hers.

I think people should get them for any journey they so desire… no badass required.

But every tattoo tells a story… or marks a path in some ones life.

I have 6 tattoos and they all have symbolic meaning - They are not particularly Badass but are more spiritual in nature.

Well it used to be most common with sailors. Then it became bikers. Then gang members. I first noticed that tattoos were the trend for just “normal” folk back in 1982 when I was hospitalized. Actually another funny thing I first noticed in the hospital was that lots of people had teeth missing. I’m sure they didn’t want it that way but I had never seen so many people with teeth missing.

I’m not a big fan of tatoo’s, I generally think that they look trashy, especially on women.

In the Summer of 1975, the doctor took me off all meds and just let me alone. Pretty soon, I was psychotic, Strugling to avoid the devil while psychotic, I got scraped and cut up. So I went into the hospital looking like I’d had the wrong end of a fight.

Next, I saw people in the hospital with teeth mising, and missing digits, and with artifical limbs and everything. Mental illness does a number on its victims!

But surviving schizophrenia is badass

One of my biggest fears when I was in the army was that some morning I would wake up after a hard drunk with a butterfly tattooed to my forehead. What I hate about tattoos is that it is so hard to remove them.

I have one that I have NO memory of getting. It’s sort of a tribal sun on my shoulder…

For a long time I was CONVINCED I got it when my family vacationed in Spain…

I was in the hospital for the 5th time when my family informed me… We’ve never been to Spain.

I was either psychotic or drunk or a bit of both when I got it. At least it’s not ugly or half assed done.

I think the tat craze will come to an end. Let’s face it, nothing is as uncool as something your middle-aged mom thinks is cool. Expect to see a lot of kids NOT getting ink for that reason.

The police love tatoos for instant visual positive ID purposes.

Wear your tattoos confidently when you keep your behavior to being a benevolent member of society.

The two I have are easily covered with a pair of short socks and a t-shirt.

One was a drawing I did in the 3rd grade about a story I did on myself that drew ridicule from my brothers until I cried-typical, but I never changed and I still am that little girl reaching for the moon and stars.

The second one I drew in 2005.

It’s a combination of 3 things intrinsically me, that in time, I’d know why and be able to explain, and one word that describes a coping skill I’ve always used to get through life when it gets overwhelming.

My tattoos are parts of me that will not ever change, so it made sense to make it permanent on my skin.

I kind of see your point.
There is nothing more repulsive than looking at some of these aging rock stars, with their old wrinkled out of shape bodies and faces and all of their jewelry and tattoos and long thinning hair - tattoos and piercings look a lot better on the young

I was psychotic when I had mine done. It literally looks like a journey through hell that travels up my arm.

Each to their own

Mine cover up self harm scars. I am quite pale so scars show easily.

Getting my skin back was an amazing feeling

I look forward to that day.

i have tattoos…i never show them to anyone…it is private, something that belongs to me
take care :alien:

Well damn, I had to commemorate graduating top of my major summa cum laude, chi beta phi and phi kappa phi, defending a thesis, and then signing up for more.

But really there is a story behind each of mine, and I have always considered serious mental illness survivors to be badass.

I love my tattoos!

I’m more into piercings than tattoos but I do have one…

I actually have a dermal cross on my arm made up of 5 peircings… These are almost as permanent as tattoos and when they finally come out they scar in that shape…
