What I never saw in America

I have been watching some CNN news and how Trump tries to battle America’s opioid epidemic, I was in America for 13 years and I never saw any drugs, I suppose I was lucky to live my life in that way there, I am surprised now after watching CNN’s video of Trump’s speeches.

Its real, I live on the east coast. So many people I know have been affected by opioids. But its a secret, no one talks about it until something goes wrong.

I’ve never actually seen it either, but I sure do hear about it all the time. It seems like everybody that does pain pills talks about being addicted to them.

I couldn’t even get prescribed a benzo when I brought it up to my pdoc.
I would think it would be even tougher to get a pain medicine.

In this country there are a lot of people who rely on corrections and the war on drugs for a career. Trump talking tough to police doesn’t surprise me

I’m sick of hearing about it. I’m sick of everyone telling me I’m an addict for doing the one thing that’s helped me with pain.

I’ve heard of the crisis but I’ve never seen it first hand from anyone or anyone my friends know.

@Noise you shouldn’t feel bad , but I know we all have felt the same about our AP’s or antidepressants. Sorry about making you feel bad . Have to admit, I was questioning if we need Opioids. Now I know some people do. Stay responsible thanks for the education.

Many years ago, I injured my back and was thrown into a lot of pain overnight. The doctors told me to take Aleve and that didn’t do much for the pain. I sat on a lot of hot water bottles. It got to the point, over the years, where I could not bend over to wash my face, brush my teeth, tie my shoes, or pick anything up off the floor. It was that bad. And I was only 44 years old. I went back to the doctor, hoping for a stronger pain med and he told me to start walking. So, I did. For two years. With no change in my pain status or weight. (I was obese). Then, I remembered reading somewhere that yoga was good for the spine. So, I bought three beginning yoga DVD’s and started doing them. Within six months, all of my pain and disability was completely gone. I have been doing yoga faithfully now for the last 13 years and loving it. I proclaim it everywhere I go.

Sorry for the ramble, but, I’m somebody who routinely reads one thousand page books.

Thank you @5713 I don’t mean to make anyone feel bad about their opinions. I know a lot of people do struggle with addiction of opioids. And I do agree that something should be done I’m just very scared that people are going to make it so I can’t get the one thing that’s helped me.

Thank you for listening to me it means a lot!!

Migraines they are the most intense pain I’ve ever experienced it feels like somebody stabbing me in the eye with an icepick.

I have to sit in complete darkness and complete silence smells will even bring me immense pain.

Percocet changed my life. I’ve tried everything to help with the pain. I used to have to go to the ER to get a shot in my ass to get the pain to stop.

Since I got my painkillers I don’t have to be scared of how I’m going to handle the pain. I don’t have to break down sobbing and screaming from the pain anymore. I was able to keep a job because of them.

And they have minimal side effects for me!

Sorry didn’t mean to ramble I just really can’t stress how much they’ve helped me.

I see discarded needles everywhere. (Fairly certain they are real and others see them.) It wasn’t that way when I was a kid.

America is a drug Nation.
Drugs are everywhere.
Drug use is on the rise.
From doctors overprescribing to illicit drug use.

Prescription drug abuse is definitely a problem here. I’ve seen my own brother have an apparent pill problem.
