Chronic pain sufferers should not be given opioids, says medicines watchdog

I’m guessing this moron doesn’t have nerve damage. People with severe pain need it managed.

For me personally opioids would make the pain go away for a short amount of time, but when they wore off it hurt twice as bad, there are many alternatives today for pain relief.

Personally I feel Cymbalta is safer that opioids. But I still sometimes need the opioids too.

Opioids after my surgery made me dance alone all night without sleeping. Its bad.

I find that lyrica and cymbalta work best like @Leaf it is rarely that I will use an opioid.

I was on morphine at the hospital and then they gave me codeine at home. My grades at school declined while on it but not sure if its the anaesthetics too.

They need to do a documentary on Netflix that follows the suicides of people with chronic pain disorders who have killed themselves because they weren’t allowed access to their medication. Call it “The Pain Suicides.” There’s plenty of cases to work with. Only then will people get the full story on this issue.

Untreated chronic pain is a monster, and pain killers are miracle meds when used properly. This stigma against pain sufferers needs to stop. My mother has a chronic pain causing illness called Interstitial Cystitis and has been in tears and even in the hospital when pharmacies wouldn’t fill her meds after we moved. Fortunately she found a good pain specialist and is getting her medicine again, so she can live life again.

They should make better painkillers and use what’s available in the meantime.

My sister has elhers-danlos syndrome and is in pain 24/7. She refuses pain meds though. Maybe she fears addiction. After I got my c-section with my son the doc gave me a Rx for pain meds but I stuck with extra strength Tylenol. My pain was bearable.

Another pencil pusher with no concept of reality.

They need to be tortured until they ask for painkillers lmao

I have a disease very similar to ehlers-danlos and I am in pain 24/7. But I refuse to take opioids, but ibuprofin works better for me.
