What helps you taking meds?

Bought this to help me not to forget… also finally feeling like I have a diagnosis that fits helps as I’m more able to feel as though I’m on the right course of treatment … nothing used to work…im getting the odd mood swings which is annoying but its helping me be more in control than previously… still working on correct dosage and going to start taking sertraline soon

Routine. I cannot use a med box. It’s too stressful for me. A lot of working planning a week ahead. I tried and failed so many times. What works for me is different for others. I just remember. Sometimes I mess up, but I also used to mess up with the box too.

I use one of those boxes too.

Really useful thing to have.

My family look after my meds, so they fill it up for me.

I am not allowed to hold onto my meds as I tried to OD

That’s so exciting that you are off aps. I’m really happy for you.

I personally set my alarm on an everyday alarm. And I put a tick in my diary each day I take it so that I know I’ve already taken it and don’t take it again.

I put a dice on my supplement bottle, and every time I take a dose, I rotate it by 1.

I’ll put one on my med bottle too, though my memory for taking it is decent.

I have too many pills for a divider.

I’m terrible at taking medication. Half the time I don’t take my anti depressant

I also get an injection once a month. That helps cause I don’t have to remember to take it.

Hey did your doctor stopped your antipsychotic?I remember your rediagnosed as bipolar. What meds are you on now?

I’ve stopped both that I was on and now started lamotrigine soon to start sertraline … he said bipolar is unlikely … it felt very severe though and had been affecting functioning… possibly anxiety

That’s what I use too. It’s the only way to go to keep organized for me as I have so many medications and I take them twice a day. I also set an alarm on my phone to remind me when to take them so I don’t mess up and skip doses.

Good, anxiety is a much less severe form of mental illness

Doesn’t feel less severe it feels very severe … also mine is as severe that they thought I initially had bipolar and schiz and low functioning a few years back… it really affects functioning… plus one person’s sz might be less severe than another person’s anxiety and vice versa… this just my opinion though…i used to feel anxiety was much less an issue too

Too much dopamine leads to expressive sz whereas too little leads to depression. Anxiety and depression go hand in hand, both are expressed by too little serotonin whereas too much norepinephrine can lead to anxiety but combat depression. The reality is neurotransmitters are powerful, and they interact with oneanother expressivly, so when you adjust one a series of reactions take place until homeostasis is reachieved. Only probloems are the setpoints vary by individual meaning the resulting effects are experienced at different times.

I have app tracker to check a box for pills and a note pad on a phone to keep track of my depot

the brain also adapts to the stimuli presented to it, so in order to acheive a new setpoint for desired homeostasis one needs to reevaluate periodically the need for adjustments to the medicinal regiments, otherwise emotion trumps logic

I’ve made a routine of taking my morning meds right after my morning cigarettes, and my evening meds either when I have dinner, or with a piece of bread right before I go to bed.
I think routine is important

The voices help me immensely in giving me an incentive to. I used to use pill dividers myself but am now dependent on the staff at the group home.
